Definitely doesn’t hold up well, which is not to say it wasn’t excellent or dynamic at the time of its original airing.

As I think as to why such a beloved show is often difficult to watch, maybe its some combination of: outdated fashion, so many of its famous jokes became cliche, the characters are intentionally unlikable, and “Curbed” sort of showed us how the sausage is made.

Oh wow, I disagree completely. I think it's held up incredibly well - most episodes are still super relatable and funny. A few times a cell phone would have ended the episode immediately, sometimes a joke is now considered played out but you recognize it wasn't back then, and very few times it's like eeesh, can't do that anymore, but even then it's not to the level of being offensive beyond the point of, yeah these characters are ****.

Good thoughts.

I didn't mean to imply it offends me.

Question for Seinfeld fans, has watching "Comedians in Cars With Coffee" (50 hours in to the brain and personality of Jerry) and Curb Your Enthusiasm (100 hours in to the mind of Larry David) changed the way you view Seinfeld episodes? I swear, I can identify who wrote each joke or plot twist, based on the way these subsequent projects have shown their world views and humor.

Same here. I think it holds up well and have also used the cell phone thing when discussing it with others. Another old one that generally holds up well is Cheers, some womanizing aspects of Sam, especially being the boss, is an issue these days but it never really goes too far.

One that i'll personally always love is Arrested Development. But I think that's one that doesn't hold up well over time, some very specific things specific to that time which people 20 years from now will barely remember.

I watched the Golden Girls pilot the other day and as much of that show as I've seen over the years, I never knew the set up with Sophia was that she had a stroke that destroyed her ability to filter her speech. All these years I thought she was just the queen of not giving a ****.

I'm rewatching it too and love it just as much. So many little lines that make me LOL every episode. Especially the middle platinum seasons.

I never watched a minute when it was originally on but I've caught a few in syndication and that show can be pretty funny.

I believe he was referring to the finale, which is pretty weak. The last couple of seasons were spotty; you have some classics mixed in with average/cartoonish. Still one of my favorite shows and my go to when I want something on in the background.

Enjoyed Seinfeld but agree the finale wasn't good. . Good idea to bring back all the characters but the plot was weak.

I really enjoy Curb. Basically an R rated Seinfeld.

That was probably the point I was trying to make. Curb takes my favorite and most genius aspects of Seinfeld, and doesn’t have to deal with network constraints. Its also more recent/modern. This are probably why I prefer rewatching Curb episodes over original Seinfeld.

Sidenote, time has revealed Jerry (in real life) to be sort of crusty and petty and I find it off off putting. Which is odd because Larry might be the most crusty and petty person alive and its endearing.

I thought Saul mentioned him in BB but it was "Ignacio" (above).

Nacho is Ignacio. Had totally forgotten the "Lalo didn't send you?" line from that scene.

Binge watching Seinfeld is a bad idea. It’s the perfect show to just catch one here and there.

Love Seinfeld, but didn't have HBO when Curb came out and never watched it. Is it worth it for me to start at the beginning and watch the whole thing?

I'd start at the beginning. There are stand alone episodes but most seasons have a theme.

I did a full rewatch of Seinfeld a few years ago and still enjoyed it. Think it's held up quite well.

All this talk about Seinfeld when Wings is right there on like three streamers. Best sitcom ever.

Lol. Wings might be in the top 100 sitcoms ever I guess
