10 years ago, we would have been cheering on these second apron rules as a **** you to the superteams and big markets. It's **** brutal that we're getting kneecapped by them as soon as we have a championship contender and owners willing to spend to fund it.

I think it's great. GMs have to be a lot better at their jobs now as opposed to just spending a lot of money.

I guess if healthy George is a good step up from Tobes, especially if the Sixers can get Embiid to concentrate more on D and less on trying to cram in 25 shots as soon as possible.

George to Philly on a max deal confirmed it seems.

Woof for Philly. Is this the end of the road for Morey if it doesn't work?

Bad news for Horst, we’re near the end of the rope

Yeah I'm sure there's 100 different ways they could have filled out around Embiid (and still wound up with Maxey) that didn't mean signing a 34 year old PG but we're here and this signing makes them significantly better than they were the last few seasons.

Still, the most important move so far is KCP. Not because of Orlando but because of Denver who is not title contender anymore IMO.

With his injury history, signing 34 year old Paul George to a max contract could end up looking…I dunno, pretty mid? If he’s healthy they’re substantially better compared to Tobes, but it’s a big if.

Why it sucks that we really can’t do much. There’s at least 4 teams in the east who think they’re better than us right now. Three of them are probably right.

Feel pretty confident in saying PG will not outplay that deal. I think Philly will be very strong in the reg season and melt when it matters in round 2 or 3.

I wouldn’t sleep on the potential impact on Maxey here. He was so good last year due to Harden leaving and getting his chance to spread his wings. It’s far from a done deal this will work well for Philly. I still like our top three guys best. Our problem is the big drop off after that.

People can poo-poo his age all they want. Maxey, George, and Embiid is a pretty damn good trio. Sixers just got way better.

Philly is going to be better. It gives them some room to be able to withstand the inevitable Embiid playoff injury and pull a series or two out with a hobbled Embiid or something. Still gotta see him go 4 rounds without getting too hurt but Sixers increased their chances of winning a championship in the next year or two. Thats all you should be worrying about if you have an mvp guy.

I appreciate that barring injury the top 4 should be Boston, NY, Philly, and us. If there are no major injuries for any of these teams (I know, probably wishful thinking) the second round of the playoffs should be impressive.

Like with us and Giannis, it comes down to Embiid's health. Its easy to forget how damn good he is when he hasnt been playing really.

But they are also, i think, another top heavy team that will probably lack depth. Better than Phoenix, though, obviously. Better than us? Tbd

Slightly more balance east to west with this move.

If this was three years ago, I would be cheering it on where it makes them tough in year one but leaves it wide open for us down the line. Problem is we are way down the line and need to win this year and the 4th best team in the east (if we consider us top 3) just got an all star caliber player to go with a MVP candidate and another all star caliber player.
