Per the Boston board, the Celtics could duck the tax if they trade Schroder while 'taking back no more than about $2.1 Million':

Wish we had a beat reporter who would actually do his job. Sounds like weve heard similar things.

They may have at one point but I think they squashed the beef.

If the Celtics are prioritizing getting under the luxury tax, this kind of deal would help them do that.

Trade NBA says the deal would still work contractually with Hood swapped in for Nwora

Bucks or Thunder could send Boston a 2nd too.

Gross, I hope the Bulls get him. We don't have a salary matching player that's worse than him. We don't need a brainless chucker.

The Bucks could salary match by sending Hood and Semi to the Celtics, while sending Nwora to a 3rd team for 2nds. Celtics would accomplish their main goal of ducking the luxury tax with this deal.

Hood and Semi isn't enough to salary match

I ran through the trade machine and the only way I could salary match this for the Bucks is with Donte. I don't see why Horst would do that, except if he feels Donte is going to leave in RFA?

The one difference I noticed is that Boogie does not get blocked at the rim like Monroe like that. But honestly the bucks just need a warm body at backup C at this point.

Brad let Semi walk in the offseason, don't think he'd be that hyped to get him back lol

Why do we need to add Donte and Nwora just to get Muscala?

Ha definitely not hyped but not like there's any bad blood, and Semi's familiarity with the system might make him a more useful practice body than other rando's.

Bucks have also been linked to Schroder in the past too even aside from the Bud connection:

The reason Nwora is going to a 3rd team is to satisfy the salary matching as part of a 3 team deal. Example:
Bucks get: Schröder, Najee Marshall
Celtics get: Semi, Hood (while avoiding the tax)
Pelicans get: Nwora (Pelicans send someone 2nds, they have a ton, both Boston and Milwaukee could get one)

He can’t shoot but isn’t as injury prone as Boogie and if lockerroom drama were an issue there’d be less of that.

The merits of the move aside though are far outweighed by how classically Bucks it is to run with a reunion tour.

We already brought back Wes and Hill.

Who’s next? Jennings, Jabari, Delly, Ersan, Delfino?

Harvey Catchings. On a serious note I'd pay real money to see Larry Sanders in peak form on the Bucks roster. If anybody here knee-jerks to pique form at the idea, don't @ me when he had that edge we needed to finally get over the top. It is what it is.

I think the Celtics would probably take Hill back in that scenario, and would look to dump Bol Bol or Dozier to OKC to get under the tax

Outside shooting? Nope. Rim protection? Nope. Athletic enough to defend, cover and/or switch? Nope. He’s a big with a pulse and six fouls, that’s a decent rebounder. “Mine”
Complete failure by Horst since dropping Boogie and this had better not be the only move around the deadline. If this was the type of move to make it should have been done as soon as Boogie was gone. Wasted games and wear and tear on both Giannis and Bobby.

Monroe looked like he was moving a lot faster than Cousins, moving easily, more quickly, and in sync w teammates so

DS falls into the category of vets most teams passed on this summer and his current team is looking to dump him. He's more useful than most players but his talent is better against his attitude.

Big no thanks to Dennis. Using assets to acquire yet another guard makes no sense to me. I'd rather keep Donte and Hill than trade either for Dennis

Can't see having both Hill and Schroder to backup Jrue. It has to be Hill coming out and I would love to see that. No disrespect but I would prefer a motivated 28 y/o Schroder over 35 y/o Hill on his last legs. I was rooting for Schroder with the tax-MLE in summer and wouldn't miss the opportunity to fix it now.

Hill + Semi for Schroder + Kanter (TPE) works. It also gives Bucks a C that can soak RS minutes. If it's not enough for Boston to duck the tax feel free to add Hood for Dozier or Bol Bol.

Yeah, I think I'd like this better cutting out Donte and Muscala. What about something like this, with Milwaukee and Boston both sending OKC a second or something for helping out?

Milwaukee: Schroder
Boston: Nwora
OKC: Ojeleye, Hood, 2nd(s)

Edit: Then use Donte in a separate trade for a wing/big, if desired.
