I haven't even heard of four of the top ten.

I'm officially old (and only PC and Switch)

Hell of a year for games.

It’s wild to me that when you stack up all the games this year and something like Resident Evil 4 Remake places at number 11 on the list. Not because I necessarily disagree, but because you can justify it being number 11. Almost any other year that’s your GOTY and it’s number 11. 2023 will go down as one of the best video game years, only behind 2004 and 1998. I’d say it’s probably better than 2007 and maybe tied with 2001?

Nothing's ever going to top 2007 IMO.

- Mass Effect
- COD: Modern Warfare
- Wii Sports/Wii Play
- Super Mario Galaxy
- Halo 3
- Uncharted
- Assassin's Creed
- God of War II
- Bioshock
- Portal
- Skate
- Stranglehold
- Madden, NBA 2K, and FIFA all at their zenith.

TBH Kojima hasn't made a game I've enjoyed since MGS.

I missed the presentation tonight but it'll give me something to check out on a slow Friday. I see Team Ninja has a new one out :rubshands:

Read an interesting article about Dave The Diver and "indie games." Much like indie music, it's become much more about the type of game and says nothing of the developer; the developer for Dave The Diver is owned by multi-billion dollar Nexon, and it had a massive budget compared to "true" independent developer games like (top of my head) Stardew Valley. Was interesting to consider for awards like this.

Similarly to "indie" above, why is CP2077 an "ongoing" game? It's a game that got patches to fix it, and an expansion. Weird to me.

Yea, it's not an indie by any definition of the word. I don't care about the awards and I don't expect anything out of TGA but that was a weird screw up.

Yeah I find it weird. I think that category is for more live service, multiplayer focused games. Stuff that’s getting like five plus years of support.

It's probably going to suck, but I can get behind a Walter Goggins-led Fallout TV series.

Forza Motorsport, universally panned by the racing community, won best sports game

Alright, now that I've committed time to and understand Monster Hunter, I'm hyped for a new multi-console MH. I missed the boat on World, loved Rise on Switch, but wished it was a PS5 game.

Holy ****, go Larian! I totally expected Zelda to win. That's so great to see. Long live Sven.

If you liked Rise, no reason not to go back to World and the expansion. Both are awesome.
