Let's use our Wizard friend Otto Porter's max offer from the Nets as our guide:

-four years and $106 million.

-player option after year three

-15% trade kicker

-half of annual amount due at start of season each year

-Annual salaries of $24.7, $26, $27.2 and $28.5 in the final year

If his ACL goes out again? We're done.

Exactly where I'm at and what I expect.

We can not ignore the fact that an offer like this could be a franchise killer. That's a serious concern to have attached to a new contract. Easier to prospect for upside when the downside means you continue to suck. This team has holes but proper use of telly delly henson money could go a long way towards fixing that.

Ps: don't like bringing a dude who blew his acl twice back on groundhog day.

Would you guys do a Whiteside for Jabari Parker trade?

How much flexibility is there in these max contracts? Sparky mentioned Embiids contract and that they offered the max but put in safe guards if he got injured to protect themselves, something about letting them out of it? Is that true?

Is that something we can do with Jabari? Like offer him a 4 yr max but if he gets inured, that we can opt out somehow?

I think most here would be against it due to character concerns. Personally, if the Bucks can defer some long term money to Miami I'd do it.

Close to 5/150.

That's from the Bucks. They won't give him that, would think they make him get an offer sheet or offer the 4/$106 he'd otherwise get.

ETA: and if Jabari doesn't accept that and try's to play out the QO, he's nuts based on DMC going down this week.

Max external offer probably still over 110 depending on where the cap lands. Have to say that if he's getting those kind of offers, he can probably write his own ticket and we can get something for him in a S&T. But that's a very long way off at this point.

why would any team offering Jabari do a sign and trade?

6 months? A couple days until we lose any ability to trade him barring a S&T which doesn't help leverage... aka otto porter contract.

Just remember there's decent chance someone can say this later on with a negative connotation.

Kinda curious what happened to make you feel this strongly about him. I recall you mentioning it was a personal thing.

Most teams aren't going to have space to offer him a max contract outright.

There is a canyon between where he is today and where he'll have to be to sign a max contract in 6 months. You don't think so?

Nobody's going to give us anything interesting for him before the deadline. I'd rather let him walk than take on some other dumb contract on an ordinary player.

I never underestimate the dumb things bad teams are willing to do when they have lots of open cap. Teans will strike out on the imaginary hopes of landing stars via FA and when that happens... duck cuz its coming.

I would, absolutely love Jabari but the knee scares me too much knowing Giannis is a once in a lifetime player. We could probably dump a bad contract in the process too

I will always cherish Jabari Parker interviews. He's forever unafraid to inject new flavor into an old adage. Tonight for example, he replaced "belt" with "wing" as in "get a couple more days of work under my wing." What a special young man.

All for trading Jabari for the right player. Whiteside isn't that player.

Nah stuff it. Let's keep him. It's going to make a better story in our "Milwaukee Bucks: Road to the 2020 Championship" video.

I'm looking forward to the chapter where we trade recent draft picks for a talented but unappreciated C.

That is like a Ricky-ism from Trailer Park Boys.

You can't get better big than whiteside atm(in general i don't think the bucks should target any other big but that's another convo).
I don't want jabari to be traded now either but i would do it for middleton. Salary wise it's also a better option.
Middleton+Wilson should do it.

I've never been so torn about a player.

I like him as a person, I want him to be rewarded for his power of will and patience, and most of all I am extremely excited to see the team whole for the first time and curious what a normal coach like Prunty can get out of him as a player.

And then I think of what happens to this team if we pay him and he blows a knee and it totally ruins it for me.

His contract has to similar to Embiid’s. Which has a provision in it that lets the team cut/release him if he reinjuries, in Embiid’s case, his foot or back. Only on his major injuries that he’s had in the past. So if he does get reinjuried the team isn’t completely screwed. Seeing as thou this wouldn’t be the first contract like this it helps and gives something to do off of.
