Man that ending sucked. Overall I liked the show. It was never meant to be believable. Didn't have to waste time with "that could never happen" because none of it could happen.

The final 7 episodes were pretty good but the ending....meh. I know finales can't please everyone but yuck.

Spoiler:
Couldn't agree more. GOT tier of idiocy. Shows really need to write with endings in mind. This was completely haphazard with characters doing completely contrary things just to drive plot.

I never watched a minute when it was originally on but I've caught a few in syndication and that show can be pretty funny.

Hilarious show - my wife has it on all the time in the background, and it addresses a lot of interesting stuff too.

Also one of our biggest Halloween costume hits was me dressing as Dorothy, her as Sophia (had to try to top Will and Carlton the year previous)

I watched the Ozark finale a week or two after everyone else, so I'd heard all the complaints (but no spoilers) beforehand. I watched it and though "what was the uproar about, nothing crazy weird happened, seemed fine to me". Not gonna say it'll stand out as a best ever finale but I don't think there's any 'jump the shark' type moments that should lead to this kind of backlash. But I also realize people enjoy being negative.

Spoiler:
This is an unfortunate penalty for high expectations established beforehand. When it then falls short via plot holes or character inconsistency, that feels like a total waste to me.

This show had gaping potholes and generally nonsensical things the whole time, nothing new in the finale. And again, I don't see anything that stands out as egregious.

Yeah Ozark was unbelievable from the first episode on. That's what I kind of liked about it. I didn't spend time with "that could never happen" because none of it could ever happen. I just enjoyed the ride for the most part. There were just other final scenarios I would have enjoyed more.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

idk, I dont have an issue with how Ozark ended. I saw the poor response and...

Spoiler:
believe this is because Ruth died and as far as we are aware the Byrds got away free. It does make sense though, Ruth was wreckless and it caught up to her. This isn't like a Jesse Pinkman case, who more or less is relatively innocent. The Byrds still have a lot of value will be kept around for this reason. While I definitely enjoyed the show, frankly it peaked with Wendy's brother's death and had to land the plane after somehow.

Yes, please. Full trailer comes out Friday.

At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

My take on what they were trying to say (note: this doesn't mean they did it well):

Spoiler:
The little guy never wins because the rich and powerful are just too rich and powerful.

But to me it’s just a difficult transition to those movies after you watch something like The Batman. Not even saying the Batman was a masterpiece (it wasn’t), but it was so well shot, so gritty and unafraid to get really dark that going back to the almost cartoon-y vibe of MCU movies is tough. Not to say they aren’t a fun time but the difference is glaring.

Said it several times already but we need more Daredevil type content in the MCU where they just don’t hold back in terms of violence, themes and tone. Haven’t seen Moon Knight, maybe that’s close? Idk.

Moon Knight is definitely not Daredevil unfortunately. The new Strange movie was more violent.

The Batman was like Appcalypse Now compared to the MCU cartoonish drek. I loved it. Sure it wasn't perfect but it was like reading a motion graphic novel Batman story. It was also a breath of fresh air with the serious script and tone.

And I could tell Matt Reeves was influenced by great Bat stories like The Long Halloween and No Man's Land. Yea I used to collect comics.

Spoiler:
Pretty much agree with all of this. The last split season was just a train wreck in my opinion. I respect them for killing off Ruth though. It always felt inevitable.

People told me that "The Batman" was like one of my favorite movies ever (Seven) but this ish is damn near a complete rip-off of Seven. I still dig it for what it is, though.

Do you listen to/watch Office Hours? I don't catch it all the time but I think that might fill my Stern Show vacuum once he retires for good. Tim is building a nice comedy network. He's a genius weirdo and I love it.
