Yeah this sounds like just a damage control presser.

I wish these dudes would just be honest when they are speaking in public.

If the hire did help them get Giannis to extend, I also wouldn’t have any regrets. This team’s ability to contend begins and ends with Giannis.

Gotta wait for his memoirs in 30 years.

Man, so far this is a pretty worthless presser. The synopsis - Griffin didn't do anything wrong, it's not true that he lost the locker room, he'll be a good coach going forward. They just decided that we had an opportunity to upgrade our team through this move after the roster changes.

I assume they assumed doc would be signed by now and ready for the presser. Doc being the snake he has been took it as an opportunity to leverage a bigger deal that stalled finalizing the contract

They have to keep it professional and are not going to throw Griffin under a bus and ruin his life. Everyone knows why he got fired but zero chance they would publicly say it.

Lots of assumptions and projecting here 8-)
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Who cares what other teams, players, fans and especially internet trolls think?

Horst just lied for the entire press conference. Not saying anything is one thing, but lying is disrespectful. What did he lie about:

1) He has NO regrets in hiring Griffin and
2) The ONLY reason Griffin was replaced was because of all the changes that happened after Griffin was hired-specifically, Dame, Giannis extending, Khris extending and playing well gave Horst the confidence that this could be a championship team.

In other words, he said his expectations were lower before, so he felt comfortable hiring a lesser coach (my words).

I have not been critical of Horst in the past, but his choosing Griffin as one of the three that Giannis would choose from is GM malpractice. And doubling down on that choice is dishonesty.

I agree with this, but...what was the point of the press conference? Are they obligated to hold one due to league rules or something? Otherwise the only thing I can think of is they thought the deal would be done by now.

Yeah, most of the people laughing at us have no clue just how catastrophically bad Griffin was and how much of an upgrade even a mid coach like Doc is. We’ll likely soon have a non-brain dead defensive scheme and will probably lean more into Dame on-ball, we’ll see how much everyone’s laughing 3-4 months from now I guess.

It's like calling a person fat. It doesn't matter to someone who is comfortable with themselves.

I'm not comfortable with our coach and their comments hurt due to insecurities. We are like the girl who lost five pounds and excited to show off only to be called fat by the first stranger they see.

Grief was actively harming this team. I don't think Doc is that bad. He's no genius, but he's no worse than Joe **** Mazzulla lmao
