Do you guys think Kidd was in the top 25% of coaches?

Do you think Kidd did not have significant input in personnel decisions?

I would like to add a question. Do you think Kidd was the best available coach for the Bucks?

Funny part was he wasn't really even "available". Bucks had to buy him.

So funny

He may seem a bit confused, but maybe we got him pegged.

Maybe he should try throwing in some meat so he doesn't get pushed around.

So Kidd is a terrible person and a terrible coach, double whammy. But his supporters say he needed more time. Yikes.

Kidd sucked. His offense sucked. His defense sucked. His input on personnel sucked. How much Giannis' development is due to him is debatable. I doubt he had much to do with it at all because he hasn't done anything for Vaughn, Thon, or Wilson. There is absolutely no way he is some kind of special talent developer who can't be replaced. He did not pay his dues as an assistant and he never will. He is, by most accounts, a dirtbag. Because of his ego and relationship with ownership he was worse than an average bad coach, he was a disease that infected the organization.

The behind the scenes drama doesn't matter. Its only relevance is how ESPN screwed up the story by missing the first part of it where everybody thought he was getting canned and ended up with the ridiculous "They told Giannis first" nonsense that was repeated ad nauseam. And then they braindead talking heads prattle on about how it was handled the wrong way and Kidd didn't deserve this and on and on. Whatever, he needed to get fired as bad as any Bucks coach ever needed to get fired.

Second question first: I think he had input. I would also agree with your implicit assumption that as a talent evaluator he left a lot to be desired. But it's probably disingenuous to pin all the bad personnel decisions this organization has made in the last four years to him.

Top 25%? I don't know what criteria to apply to make such a ranking. As I've often observed with respect to NBA coaches and organizations generally, most will make the same decisions when presented with the same situations, so there's not a lot to choose among them. He's made lots of in-game bloopers that a Popovich would not make, but with respect to the things that relate to ownership of the future -- player development, players learning how to be "pros," etc., I think he gets a passing grade. Did his non-interventionist approach (which is what it clearly was despite opinions to the contrary) accelerate Giannis's ability to learn the NBA game in a way that a more structured program would not have? I'd say probably yes.

We knew he was a terrible person when he was hired. People didn't care.

I think Kidd brought some credibility to the team among players that we no longer need because Giannis overshadows everything.

I guess I should have clarified that I’m not talking about his terrible stuff off the court. He’s just a terrible people person in terms of interacting with his players. Playing mind games and, if Woelful is to be believed, making up stories of a player vote to discipline Jabari when Woelful has former Bucks players saying it never happened.

This is not how you foster chemistry and get the best out of your players.

Kidd's parting shot took credit for putting the Bucks on the map, and I think in fairness you have to acknowledge that there's something there. And while it's painful for Kidd haters to acknowledge that what may have been the fastest, most pronounced four-year improvement curve of any NBA player in history took place on his watch, it did. Would it have happened anyway? Did Kidd's connections and his ability to bring in special guest tutors foster it? Did Kidd's standing as a future HOFer add weight to the necessary lessons of basketball neophyte Giannis? Did he have a hand in Giannis's physicial development, his motivation, the way he now plays?

All unknowns that are answered a little too glibly in the negative by Kidd haters.

We don't need a splashy new coach. We just need to hire the tossed salad man. Instant results.

He is for sure acting naive with this JKidd situation. Dude should have his teams back and not his wife beating coaches. FWIW if Giannis leave the bucks are all this loyalty talk this board is gonna be a ****.
