The NBA will probably void the contract so he can go to Miami or LA. We tampered by talking about a supermax offer for him awhile ago so the punishment is still coming.

For all their gaffes, being good with players in direct relationships is a very key trait to remaining a top franchise. Jackie highlights that when they're in agreement it would best for the NBA that Giannis extend.

I know we all have to learn to just tune this bullsh*t out, but the VERY NEXT SENTENCE after she says he's going to sign she follows it up with, "But does him signing ensure he's going to stay there? Not in this day and age."

I honestly cannot tell anymore if they are purposely pushing this narrative or it's so ingrained in their DNA to be so anti-small market that they don't even realize that they are doing it anymore.

Anyway...while this doesn't mean anything on its own, the combination of so many different indicators points to his signature on the dotted line relatively soon.

At this point I just want Giannis to sign for the longevity of this franchise. Even if he asks for a trade in a year, at least we can get something back for him. My entire worry is we mortgaged the franchise on someone who ends up leaving and we are left with nothing. That would be the ultimate demise.

To be fair, she's right in saying superstars signing a contract doesn't really mean anything these days.

If Giannis signs the supermax I think we get 1 year at the least where he is not thinking about going elsewhere.

Provided Holiday extends we most likely get 2 seasons. Giannis could pull an OKC Paul George move that summer in theory but idk if I see it.

After that though all bets are off.

As a condition I wish Giannis would insist on bringing in a serious executive who won’t screw up deals like Bogdan (i.e. salary cap goofs alongside reckless PR plays). That seems unlikely this late in the offseason but who knows.

An upgrade in the front office would be great, but what we really need is a panic room to throw the Lasrys in when it’s time to negotiate trades or free agent moves.

If he would stop being a little cryptic with his responses like I’ll stay.....as long as they make the right moves. What’s the right moves? I’ll stay as long as we keep winning.....is that winning like you have or more.

If Giannis signs the contract then I wouldn't trade him no matter what he requested, he could retire back to Greece for all I care then. A contract is a contract, there is no "in this day and age" bull.

If Horst botched the math on the Holiday deal and Bogdan pulled out because the Bucks asked him to take $15 mill per rather than $18 million, that’s not on the Lasry’s.

The non-move wouldn’t have gotten such horrific press without the leak but if there wasn’t another realistic way to get the deal done it might have been moot either way.

Pat Connaughton’s laughable deal (and Hollinger expose) doesn’t seem to be on ownership either.

Other than having a GM we picked up by default after Zanik got out of dodge and our ownership group couldn’t agree on anyone else.

No trades should ever happen because the team agreed and a contract is a contract.

Why though? How is that better for you than sending him to OKC for a couple hundred picks?

There have been reports (not sure how credible) that the Bucks are offering to trade Giannis if he is not happy after signing the supermax.

Which is a totally fine situation for us to be in!

Superstars run the league. If the Bucks would try to play hardball with an unhappy Giannis it’s not going to go well. And if Giannis believes that scenario is plausible he’s not signing a long term contract with us.

Let's be real here. If Giannis on the supermax demands a trade and you can't convince him otherwhise you can ask for the greatest package in the history of the NBA as a return. That really isn't such a bad scenario. I see no issue with upholding that promise.

Yeah, Giannis in his prime with several years on his contract would net the most ridiculous trade package of all time lol. If he asked out after signing the extension I’d get over it, if I’m the Bucks go full Presti and then full Hinkie.
