Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Dame with DVT, unknown if he'll return this season
Yep, we could literally put names in a hat and be better off just through common sense pairings and putting enough quick guys on the floor to guard the other teams quick guys. It's mind bogglingly simple and I don't know what Doc thinks he's accomplishing. Tallest lineup? Best potential to be an offensive line in football? It's not an advantage offensively. It's not an advantage defensively.
PG hat: KPJ, Rollins
SG hat: Green, Trent
SF hat: Kuzma, Prince
I would be fine with any combo of those pairings starting

Re: Bucks News, Transactions, Trade Ideas - Dame with DVT, unknown if he'll return this season
The Knicks and Pacers both seem to be wanting to play Giannis in the playoffs with the way they're approaching these last few games, which makes it even more infuriating that Doc is doing everything in his power to make things as difficult as possible for him. If we played sensible lineups Giannis might actually be able to overpower Indy by himself, but Doc is making sure that can't happen.

Look the Pacers are no joke but I'll take my chances with them over the Knicks. Plus we owe them.

The LIAR stuff is pretty funny. Giannis was practicing with his Greek teammates less than a month after the Bucks were eliminated. He probably would've played had the Bucks made the 2nd round.
Dame will be back < 2 weeks.

Any pairing listed above is a better option than the current starting lineup.

For Dame would you rather bring back
FVV, Reed, And Jabari
Or
Jalen Green, Eason, and Landale
The latter, because Green's a #2 option. But Houston aren't giving up Green for guys in their mid 30's, while they have a young core. If they're trying to go for it now w/ mid 30's vets, it'd not be at the expense of their core, rather more like the 1st option - a vet &/or a couple role players.
I mean, Gambo is super plugged into the Suns, and that’s the package he floated for Durant who will be in his late 30’s. So, make the package lesser by removing the PHX 1st, and there you go.
As a general statement, I think all the Houston scenarios are a ton of fun and super fascinating. The valuations are all over the place on each of their players. Jalen Green is mentioned as a bottom 10 contract on this here Realgm, but others think he’s a core player and a #2. Some think Reed is the worst player in the league, others, like me, think he has a lot of upside and would fit well on most teams. Etc etc.
My take on Jalen is that he’s a boom or bust player, but there isn’t a lot of value in between. He either puts it all together and becomes that high level perimeter creator that his physical tools and flashes suggest he could be, or he’s a player you’re always trying to upgrade with a trade.
If he can’t be a highly efficient self creator, then does he have pathways to become an on-ball or off-ball defensive asset, a multi-positional defender, an offensive manipulator to set up teammates, an off-ball movement shooter, or maybe just an inefficient player but one who puts his body on the line to get extra possessions, etc. I don’t think he’s shown any of the above, and he’s in year 4 at this point, so you’re banking on him turning the corner at the main thing he does.
His solid pick n roll efficiency and frequency at which he’s doubled would be my reasons for optimism especially if put alongside Giannis.

Yeah, KPJ not starting in the playoffs even with Dame is criminal at this point. Always have 1 of them on the floor, but also they should be able to open and close games together.

Pacers are all athletic 3 and D dudes.. Horst did a good job in that we match up MUCH better with them this year. They are also small so Giannis will be a problem for them -- especially if he draws extra defenders and becomes assists dude... We shouldn't try to hero ball them

Porter's numbers these last 4 games have been like Playoff Khris plus prime Charles Woodson. It's not an exaggeration to say that if he keeps up this level of play (big if, obviously), it puts us in a different category as a team.

Yet we didn’t entertain giving him a shot in the playoffs when he was that close? Seems weird, playoff time the threshold to play should be lower.

The Kuz stuff is interesting because his advanced metrics don't look good (on/off), but most games watching him he shows a lot of flashes that he can do what we want.... create chaos/deflections on D, run with Giannis on fast breaks, slash, make the occasional corner 3 when open... idk.. he might be finally gelling with us... it's hard to go from top banana to 3rd-5th

The one thing that has to stop with him imo is having his first shot be a 3, no matter what you can see he wants to test himself with a perimeter shot right out of the gates, it’s too predictable.

It was 7 weeks after the Bucks were eliminated when Giannis had his first practice with the Greek team.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think the encouraging thing about this continuing, outside the preposterous nature of his steals, is that most of the recent production is just about his minutes going up.
He’s averaged 30.5 mpg over the last 4 and put up 21/7/6, and that would be 25/9/7 per 36.
His per 36 splits over the 29 games he’s been with us have been 21/7/7, and those are also fairly in line with the larger sample of his last season in Houston where they were 20/6/6.
He’s good.

Completely disagree. Kuzma has to take those open 3's when they're there. He was a 36% catch and shoot guy and 41% from the corners just last year. He's never gonna be a sniper from deep, but he's not this bad of a shooter historically. If you're running him out there with Giannis, stop shrinking the court by telling him to be mini-Giannis. Just another reason why Doc is an idiot and doesn't understand modern offensive concepts.

If he's open off the catch he should take it. His catch & shoot 3 pt% the prior 5 yrs are better than what Dame's was last yr. And we never thought Dame shouldn't have taken them.
This yr, he's suffering from similar issues as Dame, only worse, cuz he's a lesser player/shooter under normal circumstances. He came into the season out of shape, like Dame was last yr anticipating a trade, & they were/are also adjusting to new roles from losing teams. My criticism would be he should stop barreling into opponents backing off to miss/turn it over. And it'd be nice if he turned things around in the playoffs like Dame did.

it's pretty incredible. It's going as well as it could possibly go with him so far. He even held back from punching Golbert. Now, the question becomes whether he can do it against very good teams and if he can do it consistently.
Right now, when teams dont send help, he is cooking his man and getting to the rim at will. When teams do send help, he's making an easy pass to a wide open shooter. What happens against teams who can put an elite on ball defender on him and not send help? Can he still beat the man and get a good look or get fouled? Can he make a tougher pass? If he starts to get frustrated, how will that affect his play?
Detroit is a great test for him.

Just start KPJ, Green, Trent, Giannis and Brook. That's the best 5. Green/Trent can handle Nesmith.. probably won't work against the Knicks

An argument can be made that Bobby should replace Brook here
