When Giannis puts pressure on the bucks it usually ends up in a trade but we have nothing so we have to sign another brother to try to make up for it. Gotta do what you gotta do. I understand it from both Giannis and the bucks point of view.

I would read this more as an attempt to give more of his family a reason to be local, a proactive move to head off as much of his loneliness as possible, rather than as pacification or something along those reactionary lines.

Alex on the other hand...

Everybody loves Thanasis, he is athletically suited to compete in the league, he's very competitive, his effort is never in question, and nobody in the world communicates more effectively with Giannis. He has substantial value outside of his value on the court, which is effectively zero, even accepting that he's a viable end-of-bench player on the merits of his play, which I won't.

But he's a hell of a lot closer to being worthy of the 15th spot than Alex is worthy of a 2 way. That's 100% about keeping his family close.

On a actual roster note, letting go of Bouyea who is basically a very good AAAA player, to use a baseball term, should free up a pretty clear ball handling role for Sears on the Herd.

Damn it, thats the wrong brother. Sign Kostas to a 2 year deal. NG’d in year 2. That’ll guarantee Giannis sticks around.

Something changed where Alex got this 2-way spot so late in the game.

Could be due to the public Giannis discontent.

Or the team proactively trying to keep relatives here assuming Mariah and the kids really bailed.

Otherwise why not have Alex take part in training camp?

Any Giannis family member is better than Smith, Liv, Boyea

Just to let you know, Kostas has no nba out in his contract with Olympiakos :D
I can't see him making an appearance for the Bucks. Alex was straight out bad in mid tier greek teams,

Which is what everyone is doing
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Because he's never going to play except for garbage time if we have a bunch of injuries.

Bouyea was toast after Sears got drafted. There's plenty of youth on the team now, so 3 useful 2-way players weren't really needed. Now Giannis can enjoy a Herd game once in a while on an off day.

Sears will be the 2nd best PG there. They have Kira Lewis Jr.

I don't think it's that much of an either/or.

Cormac waived as well. Guessing he'll get brought back to the Herd.

Treat signing Alex as luxury tax for surrounding Giannis with bums like Kuzma.
