Been listening a lot to some classic jazz.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy new year.

Even by Coachella standards this lineup makes me feel infinitely old. I could name three songs by Gorillaz, two from Frank Ocean, and three by Charlie XCX that she probably doesn't play anymore. That's it.

$550 for that lineup? Pass. The other problem at festivals is sometimes there are two musicians/artists I want to see at competing times and stages.

I really want to see boygenius though. I hope they tour separately up here. That first EP was a favorite.

I am excite about maybe an m83 return. I was one of the cool kids that got into him (later a group) in like 2003, the run of albums culminating with Hurry Up We're Dreaming like 12 years ago.

I just realized Junk (meh) was the only actual album since then along with some soundtrack work + a very lowkey ambient album. They also haven't toured since 2016.

I'd give this song a 6.5/10, but the vibe is telling me that they're actually going to make a really cool full album again and maybe tour.

Current jam. Love the hook.

I've been listening to this album for the past few weeks. Grower for me, not a shower, but I'm really enjoying it. Her voice reminds me of the lead singer of the Sundays from way back.

I was a big fan of Archie, Marry Me back in the day, but their other stuff never hit with me. But I've liked Pharmacist and now Easy on Your Own a lot - both got heavy rotation on XMU. I'll have to check out the rest of the album.

Just bought a two day ticket to the Harley Davidson 120 Homecoming in MKE. Foo Fighters and Green Day are two bands I've wanted to see for 25 years. I'm psyched.

**** me.

The only reason I hesitated slightly before buying tickets to this show is that it took place on the same days as Rock Fest, and there would the chance that the lineup kills.

Well, it does.

Add to the fact that it's in my backyard and I could take a bus to it from my apartment and now I'm wondering if I have to sell or eat my FF/Green Day tickets.

In case any National fans haven't heard it yet...reflective, hopeful, pop filled, and always human:

I can't wait for the album (4/28). Featuring Sufjan Stevens, T-Swizzle, and Phoebe Bridgers.

Chorus is something:

I was so distracted then
I didn't have it straight in my head
I didn't have my face on yet or the role or the feel
Of where I was going with it all
I was suffering more than I let on
The tropic morning news was on
There's nothing stopping me now
From saying all the painful parts out loud
Everybody wants to go to heaven but nobody wants to die.

Love it. Very sunny overlay to accompany what seems like a song of emerging on the other side. The guitar partway through reminds me a lot of Day I Die. And Sleep Well Beast is one of my all-time favorite albums, so I'm super hyped to hear more now.

Tickets are bought.

Thursday: Pantera, Ice Cube, Orianthi
Friday: Green Day
Saturday: Foo Fighters

Organizers of these festivals can get f*cked.

May be the first year I truly miss Rock USA in Oshkosh. Pantera is gonna be epic even if only 2 of the original. Wylde and Benante are great picks for the legacy tour or whatever you want to call it. Would assume they would’ve hit up Oshkosh if it was still going. Slipknot will be solid too, saw them about 5 years ago. Godsmack played alot of their newer stuff when I saw them in like 2018, but always a good live act. I just prefer the stuff from their first 4-5 albums vs last couple.

Listening to Death Cab's Plans album for the first time in a little while. So good, remarkable musicianship and songwriting combined with the unsurprising genius you get from letting Chris Walla produce something with all the money a major label would allow. It was such a big hit of an album at the time for a relatively odd band, I can't help but think its success must have opened up new worlds of music for a hell of a lot of people.

I think I keep forgetting about how good it is, even though it's (I assume, can't be bothered checking) their biggest seller, because it's bookended by a couple of absolute masterpieces in Transatlanticism and Narrow Stairs (the latter gets overlooked too much as well, but not by your erstwhile companion right here).

I realise it likely wouldn't be appreciated, but if I met Matt I think I would struggle to not burst into tears and say "thank you for seeing me" whilst attempting to hug him.

I too would imagine it's their best seller - and I'm guessing it's not even close. I'd bet I'll Follow You... can carry the album on it's own. Will leave this to the imagination instead of fact checking :D

But I thought for sure you'd misremembered their album order with Transatlanticism coming right before. Sure as ****, only 2 years prior. That's just not how it happened in my head.

I only heard I Will Follow You for the first time I think a month ago, after having a cover of it on my PLs for years. The cover is better :D
