It's just funny because for the vast majority of the NBA's existence, the player holding the "best in the world" title has basically always been a big man and/or someone who dominates with size and freakish athleticism (Russell, Wilt, Kareem, Shaq, Duncan, prime Lebron). Basically everyone else still clinging to that "he needs to shoot jumpers to be the best" narrative because we're still chasing the un-catchable ghost of Jordan.

SI.com's list, he's not on ESPNs.

Anyway, ESPN's top five is

5 - Steph
4 - Luka
3 - LeBron
2 - Giannis
1 - KD

Putting Lebron and Steph ahead of Jokic after the season he just had is insulting. But really, casual NBA people just absolutely love their "dribble-dribble-crossover, step-back jumper" guys and it's painfully obvious based on how much of a bump they give some of these dudes (KD, Curry, Tatum, Beal).

I would take Jokic and Kawhi over Luka and Steph in a heartbeat. And I definitely respect the latter two. And while Father Time is tapping on LeBron's shoulder these last 2-3 seasons the dude is transcendent when he's healthy and on.

I wouldn't. I think Jokic is kinda hard to build around. He clogs the paint and doesn't protect the rim. He's obviously insanely good, but if you're building a championship team and assuming you have other talented players I like Steph best out of those due to his fit with literally any other talent. If we're talking who would lift a team of bums to the best record, I'd probably choose Jokic. Call me crazy but I don't think LeBron will belong in the top 5 when all is said and done.

Jokic does more than Curry. Part of that is because he’s a 7 footer and thus he can gobble up rebounds and make easier passes despite him being a generational distributor. Jokic can play with anyone as well because he’s also an elite shooter and scorer for his position and can dominate the game only by shooting 7-10 FGs in a game, and take over when he has to. All with a dad bod.

As for LeBron, yea he’s on a slow decline but still really good when right.

And I agree with Ron Swanson, usually the most dominant players are the bigger and/or faster and/or stronger players. And if not big men than physically dominant players at their position (Oscar, Jordan, Magic, LeBron).
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Horst's interview with Eric Nehm I thought was pretty interesting. Some of the things that stood out to me

-Sounds like they specifically targeted Semi & Hood in Free Agency
-Not sure they get a deal done before the deadline with Donte or Grayson, but they are talking
-Donte is ahead of schedule but didn't give a timetable
-Says they are built differently but thinks they are a better team, will have to win in a different way this season
-This is the best PG combo they've had since he's been here
-Mentions Semi & Thanasis in the big rotation along with Giannis, Bobby, Brook
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

It was a good interview and this is a good synopsis. Because it's a pay site we won't post the contents here.

As most GM's he says a lot but doesn't say a lot. Sounds like they are talking to the agents of DD and Grayson but nothing serious. He said they are both RFA so there is no urgency but if they can find a number they'd extend them. I assume they won't extend both and I also assume they'd like to see Grayson play with the team for awhile and see how he meshes. No need to make decisions on either one now.

The team has been very cryptic about Donte's injury all along. He's "progressing nicely" and "ahead of schedule". I understand injury recovery time is fluid but it would be nice to know if they think first month of the season, first of the year, all-star break...
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

What's really going to bake your noodle later on is, "How can you be ahead of schedule if there is no timetable?"

That explains Horst not bringing up his name in the interview with Eric Nehm. Kind of surprised. Now cut Bryant too since he is unvaccinated.

What are they ranking, exactly? Are they figuring KD misses 30 games?

Steph is dominant because of his gravity. He pulls the defense out on the perimeter. So much so that he doesn't even need to be the primary distributor. God, I've wanted him paired with Giannis.

He was a big help to the eventual NBA G League Champions Lakeland Magic last year before he was recalled by Milwaukee.

That means he played a part on The NBA G League and NBA Champions last year.

Hope he gets picked up somewhere.
