Yeah it’s up to their eye of talent but I’m not sure in the best position to risk it on a guy that could be a bust this year.

Beggars can indeed be choosers, it seems. I'm sure our stellar history with bringing in transfers will bare better fruit for us.

Imo the transfers they bring in are pretty good (Potter, Klesmit…Vogt and McGee served their intended purposes) but they don’t get enough of them. I think Gard gets the idea this year.
If they like what they see in Sallis and he wants to play with his buddy, great. You’re right, anyone we can get, but there might be more productive guys from a mid-major in the mix.

I love Klesmit, so don't get me wrong here. He was probably my favorite guy on the team this year all things considered. He made some real good non-scoring contributions too, but the guy averaged 8 points. Just to run with that kind of comparison, since the offense seems to be the concern with Sallis - if we really don't think Sallis could put up or around 8 here (in addition to the defense he brings), then sure, that's bad, won't help us, and turn him away.
Just feels to me like we might be making a little much of it. He's absolutely not a shooter, but he's a noted stellar defender and pushes in transition. Feels like he actually could give us something many often complain we lack. I thought he looked great against UCLA last week
I'm not like some huge fan of his or something. I ultimately don't care as long as we bring some good guys in. I just find it funny how quickly we'd dismiss the thought.

They won’t run transition even with him probably.
I wasn’t comparing Klesmit and Sallis, I was just saying Klesmit was a good get. He’s an excellent defender as well.
Just saying the Badgers are fine at the portal but need to use it way more often.
I’d take Sallis but obviously it’s not going to happen anyways. I don’t know enough about him but just from what I recall hearing I wasn’t sure if he was living up to the hype. There’s a chance he’s a star given pedigree but that’s not a given given he hasn’t shot the 3 well so far.
It would come down to a 5-star guy that has fallen a bit riding the pine on a top 5 team vs a guy that is probably filling it up at a mid-major for who they get if Sallis is hypothetically in play. Would be an interesting call.

Klesmit is an OK defender also not very impressive on offense. He's a good bench option.

You weren't; I was. Making a point about who we've gotten historically, like I said. If Max Klesmit is what we can expect out of the portal and we just need to do it 'more often,' I don't think we'll really see much change. But if that is realistic of what we could get, I don't think Sallis would be worse than them.
I agree it won't happen. I'll drop it. I just think calling him trash that we'd reject (which wasn't you) was...weird? Like he have some high transfer portal standard.
They won’t run transition even with him probably.
Yep. And that sucks.

Yeah, there are rumors that 2 guys are already locked in just waiting for enough roster spots to clear. Educated guesses would be Reynolds and Mast of Bradley.
Efficiency is questionable on Reynolds but he’s young and put up numbers.

Mast would be a great get. Reynolds would be fine as a scoring combo guard off the bench but I think Mast could be a big addition if they got him

Wahl will return and use the 5th year, per Rothstein.

I think this will be good provided we find some guys to take some of the scoring load off him next season. He wasn't quite cut out for the role we had him in this year.

Same take from me. I am intrigued by this Reynolds guy who they may get from Wyoming. Add a big and maybe another wing and we are all set to get a 4 or 5 seed and lose in the 2nd round.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Wahl returning is fine either way, it's just a question of if we can get other guys to bump him down the option list. But even if we can't do that, I don't think we're better off by him just not returning, either.
So yeah, seems fine.

Please get a 3rd big who can shoot or one of Wahl/Crawl to greatly improve at shooting this offseason. I agree the safe route is to have him back, he's a solid starter.

Yalden and Winter should be good to go backing up Crowl and Wahl. Enough Gilmore at the 4..... stop it, just stop.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Hope I'm wrong but those guys look like more of the same to me and banking on them as Fresh is tough. As Kerb has pointed out, in the past that was fine or ok but now with other teams transferring in 22 year olds it makes it tougher. I'd like to get one of those 22 year olds, and one who can shoot. Go back two years and guys like Ilver, Hodges, Mors would've had the same things said about them and they've barely been able to be on the floor and might be the likely guys pushed out

I'd be shocked if Yalden doesnt get a lot of burn. Winter is going to come down to whether or not he can defend and bulk a little. Blackwell is a 6'4 combo guard, Hopefully he can run point. McGee is terrible.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Think about what we had playing for us this season talent wise.
Gilmore PWO
McGee Transfer from UWGB
Lindsey Transfer from UNLV
Davis - a tagalong recruit because of his brother - would never have gotten a scholarship here otherwise
Essegian Top 150 recruit freshman
That's not a recipe for success, but Essegian seems to be a hit.
