What are the extension rules as far as a player exercising their Player Option?

If FVV opted into his deal would we be able to extend/resign him if we trade for him?

Vice versa if we sent out Khris in a trade.

Mesquite with a dash of brown sugar or GTFO.

Yes and Yes.

Can they redo their deal before the season starts or is there a waiting period after being traded?

Think FVV moves the needle for Giannis to re-sign here before the season starts? I don't think that is enough.

Giannis will wait regardless of summer moves.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

They can opt in (early) and there some conditions where extended players are immediately trade able but I’m honestly not super familiar with them. Probably doesn’t matter though as everyone tampers anyway.

I think we could acquire LeBron, Durant, and Wembanyama for bench scraps and 2nd round picks and Giannis still wouldn't be resigning this offseason. I don't know why it's even really a conversation aside from the fact that ESPN wants to will him leaving into existence. He has 2 (technically 3 but he'll obviously decline the player option) years left on his deal; why would he be in any rush to sign already?

I'm trying to prep myself for a FVV acquisition. We reportedly tried to get him at the deadline. Nurse is seemingly the frontrunner for the head coaching gig, and he clearly loves the guy.

His shooting percentages are down, but the dude has a massive pair on him in clutch situations. He had a nice little PnR thing going with Poeltl late in the season which gives me some hope that he can develop something similar with Giannis.

If he opts in and requests to be traded here, what does that cost? Grayson/Pat/Beauchamp gets you there. Portis/Grayson or Pat gets you there, maybe routing Portis to IND and picks to TOR.

Zinger was dealt to the Wizards over a year ago.

Yeah, something along those lines. Would hope to pry Smith or Jackson from Indy.

Yes, this. Something like Khris for Monk and Huerter?

Khris in 2021 Finals: 24-5-6 on 44/36/85 (54%TS)

Khris in 2023 1st Rd: 24-6-6 on 48/41/87 (60%TS) +29p100

I’m just gonna start adding people to an ignore-only list — Everytime I see a terrible Khris trade or something blatantly false.

The pure disrespect Khris gets from this fanbase is a joke.

How many teams wish they had a SECOND OPTION putting up those numbers?

And dudes are saying to ‘let him walk’ or trade him for garbage.

Tatum vs Philly: 26-11-5 on 45/30/84 (57%TS)
Brown vs Philly: 24-4-5 on 57/45/72 (67%TS)

I’m not sure how much better Khris should’ve been in that series, or how much worse people think he’s suddenly gonna get, when they’ve been wrong every single time.

If the argument is being ‘injury-prone’, then do what Miami does with Jimmy Butler & only play him 50 games a year.

Khris is one of the few players in NBA history who’s numbers get BETTER in the playoffs, not worse.

I’m in the keep Khris camp unless you get some stupidly overpriced trade offer that we would be dumb to say no to.

If we make a big trade, it should be sending Jrue out. Jrues value around the league should be much higher than it’s been and probably will ever be, and especially if he has intentions on retiring we would be silly not to try and keep that 3rd max slot.

I’d hand it to ownership if they’re willing to pony up for FVV while extending Middleton and Lopez vs getting out of the repeater tax.

I don’t think it’d take a lot more than Portis + Allen if FVV wants to come here.

Then if it doesn’t work out we’d have big salary slots to use alongside the picks we can deal at the 2024 draft. Alternatively if FVV just ain’t it wasting another year of Giannis’ prime would be way unfortunate to say the least.
