Ron Swanson wrote:I never understand why people consider speed runs legit when half the time they're just exploiting game mechanics and glitches. Saw a guy doing Skyrim on Twitch and all he did was load and reload saves for like 10 straight minutes. Seems like there should be some set of unwritten rules against that kind of stuff.

It depends on the game and category. Most games have categories like Skyrim's main quest no glitches. Some of them, like speedrunning Celeste, have very few game breaking exploits and really rely on skill. A lot of time the glitches themselves are almost impossible to get and may require a complete reset of the game if you don't get them.

It took me a minute to get ahold of the Switch controls. Inventory management is a bit of a problem too. But goddamn, I haven't played this since 2017 and the game has added an absurd amount of content. I could play this for 1000 hours and not see everything.

I declined Terraria for years because I'm a graphics snob when it comes to the 16 bit style games. A friend finally convinced me and I was so glad because that game is so **** legit.

FF7R was delayed til 4/10.

This weekend I installed my new setup! MSI 2070 Super Gaming X, AMD Ryzen 5 3600x, 16GB RAM (up to 32 total), new cooler. Can't wait to put it through the ringer. Early POE returns are excellent, but while they is processor-intensive, it's not graphical. Need to boot up Metro Exodus or something...maybe Cyberpunk :D

Isn't it EOM March? Are you planning to play P5 + new content in 10 days? :P

Damn you got the super, that's awesome. I decided to go with that MSI laptop for travel/portable reasons. Let me know how that bad boy runs!

This showed me how much my gaming habits changed in 2019 with how much more I started to use my PC (and also Switch).

BL3: 68 hours.
Spiderman: 7 hours.
The Show 19: 7 hours.

Two other unlisted games. And that's it.

Now, don't make me post my Steam numbers.

ETA: This will be different this year. First, I actually really am going back to Spiderman - I didn't play it enough to abandon it after stopping, which I am prone to do. I plan to just restart entirely. Second, FF7R will undoubtedly consume me. And possibly P5R, as well, which is probably like a 200h game, lol.

I would post my PS4 recap but it'd basically be 0 hours for everything except about 60 for Days Gone. Like MiG I moved almost 100% to PC and Switch.

Speaking of PCs, my MSI GL75 gaming laptop came today. In the process of setting it up now but my gawd is she a beauty. I can already tell this thing is going to get an insane amount of use.

Kinda weirded out that my 3rd place game was Tiger Woods PGA 2012 and I played it on my PS3 which hasn't been hooked up to the internet in years.

How the f*ck did they know?

What's everyone's GOY for 2019? I'm pretty sure Dragon Quest Builders 2 tops my personal list. Switch has me at over 130 hours logged, and it was so much god damn fun the whole way.

I ordered on it on Amazon yesterday largely based on what you've said about it. Looking forward to playing it this weekend.

These were the new games I played in 2019:

Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown
Slay the Spire
Apex Legends
Trials Rising
Dead or Alive 6
Devil May Cry 5
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice
Islanders
Rage 2
Dauntless
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Remnant: From the Ashes
Control
Monster Hunter World: Iceborne
Borderlands 3
Sayonara Wild Hearts
The Outer Worlds
Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

I played Borderlands 3 and Fire Emblem the most. DMC5 and Control didn't hook me but are probably the two I'd return to. But I guess my GOTY would go to Bloodstained for being exactly what diehard fans of Castelvania: Symphony of the Night have wanted for over 20 years.

Reserving the right to change my choice if I play Outer Wilds and it's as incredible as everyone says it is.

Tough cause this wasn't a great year for games (but next year is gonna be **** insane). Liked all the games I played but wasn't "wowed" by any of them, so I don't really have an answer for the question.
