To sum up, yes Bryn is a poor defender, yes we were able to mitigate it three years ago with a better D group around him, yes there are legitimate reasons as to WHY he was starting last season even as the break downs of his poor D are equally legitimate, yes his D will once again be mitigated on a strong defensive team, yes he will hit daggers for you. :D

I don't think this is true. I'll also be very curious to see how the defence bounces back from being average at best in the bubble.

Holiday, DDV, Middleton, Giannis, Lopez. Which one of those guys don't fit?

and then add in a versatile guy like torrey craig

Only Holiday and Giannis are no doubters to me.

Middleton. He is the only one that can hit a three.

With the addition of holiday to our starting 5, surely we can hide Forbes in defense. How does spoelstra do it? I think if we have some significant minutes for him and he feels he is playing an important role, he will have the confidence to shoot well. I'm watching his highlights, seems like pop drew up some nice inbound plays to get this guy open. He's quick and shoots it well.

Hope we can land Torrey Craig or someone competent on that end, cause you're absolutely right on the bench D. Woof

Since we are assigning nicknames... I hereby nominate that we identify Bryn Forbes new moniker in honor of a poster we all have in our heart.

Fotis!!!!

If he prefers, maybe we can do the same with Portis.

Fotis will enable me to justify alcoholism if I can make a drinking game out of this.
I needs shades for this future thing we owning..... 8-) 8-) 8-)

Isn't that the problem though, you can't hide DJ Aug and Bryn at the same time, they can't play together

Forbes is a rich man's Matt Thomas. I'm looking forward to seeing him come off the bench and fire away.

Think we'd all love a lineup of 5 guys who can defend, pass, and shoot above 36% on 3's. Absent that luxury, Forbes is a guy you can mix and match when you go small. Putting him in Holiday/DDV/Middleton/Giannis lineups loses you next to nothing defensively. This is also why I'm not a fan of overpaying one-dimensional 3PT flame-thrower types when you can dig up guys like Forbes on the minimum. Let other teams break the bank for Joe Harris and Davis Bertans when I can get the 80% version of them for free just because he's 6 inches shorter.

Forbes will fit perfectly on defense. He'll be leaving guys wide open from 3 in no time.

Anyway I am rooting for Sam Merrill as our starting SG of our future. At least he is 6'5

Augustine and Forbes will definitely play together in 2nd units. And we will be fine because 2nd units just need to keep the point difference while the starters rest.

But the big thing is that we can always plug him in the game when we need a bucket to unlock us from an offensive slump. Same as we did with Corver, but better (not because he is a career better shooter but because Bucks Kyle was so old).

That backcourt will get lit up, opposing backcourts will attack attack attack that backcourt. They can keep the point difference by outscoring the other team if one or both of them get hot, but not sure if that will work. Maybe playing either Augustine or Forbes next to Torrey Craig would work better.
