Re: Giannis - No Structural Damage
Literally said in a group text earlier that our only sliver of hope is that Giannis is super human because a mortal humans knee hyperextends that far and being forced that far by that much downward force from his weight, it’s tearing to some degree.
So glad Giannis is superhuman.
So glad Giannis is superhuman.

If partial tear is the case I say keep him out of the playoffs this year.supra2k8 wrote:This is a good explanation of his injury, and when he'll be potentially be back
Typically “non structural” means no visible tear

Re: Giannis - No Structural Damage
If he plays, he'll play with a big brace to avoid any further hyperextension. It's a big if though, depending on swelling and pain and mobility.

Mitchell wants to leave Utah after they told him he can’t play for a **** first round game. You tell giannis he can’t play if he feels fine for an nba finals game good luck

yannisk wrote:maybe we should not rush him back, from some guy on redditJonathan Isaac had a horrific looking knee injury in january of last season similar to giannis. He was also ruled to have 'no structural damage', diagnosed with 'posterior lateral corner injury and a medial bone contusion.' and he didn't return until the bubble where he proceeded to tear his acl in that same knee in his second official game back.
https://www.nba.com/news/jonathan-isaac-hyperextended-knee-injury
We were told that the ACL injury wasn't related to the january incident, but either way 'no structural damage' doesn't mean he'll be back playing soon. JI's inital prognosis was re-evlauation in 8-10 weeks.
The ligament can be compromised just from being over stretched even without the presence of a tear. It’s a quicker recovery obviously but it still needs time to bind and heal to become stable again. There’s a risk of making it worse (tearing it) until that healing happens and I hope they use extreme caution. This is not a play through it injury.

I'm being overprotective on this one. Gianiss needs to rest the knee to prevent possible further damage.

The Dead and especially JGB are underrated music. Always looking to convert folks into dead heads.

Totally agree. As a huge Dylan and Dead/JGB fan, Jerry’s Visions of Johanna from 3/18/95, a few months before he died is so, so good. (I know MD, I’ll take it to the music thread)

I'm going to trust the medical staff to make the best decision possible. You have to take it out of Giannis's hands.

Re: Giannis - No Structural Damage
Awesome news. Not all that surprised he's ok. I called it last night that if there was anyone who could suffer a gruesome looking injury and still somehow be ok, it would be Giannis. He's a true freak.

Children’s video sure puts life in perspective.
Giannis will heal. Bucks still have a shot with Jrue and Middleton and the rest.

Absolutely, man. I've been so down and out since last night. Not just for us fans and being dealt yet another bad luck blow, but also felt horrible for Giannis.
But then you see this, and realize the horrible stuff these kids are going through every day. Things kids should never have to deal with. And it really puts things into perspective.

He should wear those anyways, guys will absolutely hate to stand in front of him to take charges with those on lolAussieBuck wrote:Well I'm now hungover on my way to work on a Thursday, not ideal. Amazed and stoked with the news, if Giannis wants to play on can we get him Blake Griffin's giant Detroit knee guard? Send Brook home and give Giannis his starting C spot a year earlier than scheduled

Re: Giannis - No Structural Damage
If Giannis were able to go for a hypothetical game 7, I’d like to see him used as a decoy and spend most of his time as a rim protecting 5 on defense and garbage man/decoy on offense. Realistically the biggest contribution would probably be morale/emotion.
