Re: #24 - MarJon Beauchamp
Given the other guys that were available (TyTy, Moore, Lindell), really not feeling this pick at all. Looks like a good athlete with no discernible offensive skills. Not buying him as a shooter. This is one of the more underwhelming scouting reports I've seen. Some of those misses would make Giannis blush.
Honestly, he feels like Thanasis 2.0 ... and that's not an NBA player, at least not without a famous brother.

I think he sees the floor immediately. Defense lets people stick.
Maybe but someone that can't dribble, shoot or make plays for others doesn't seem like the best fit w/ Giannis on the floor.
It won't be easy on the eye on offense, but getting stops and being able to run in transition is just as valueable for Giannis as shooting outlets. Also he's a good cutter. His fit isn't great but it isn't terrible either.

I’ll throw out a half drunken thought. We don’t get to see workouts. This guy is pretty unknown.. community college and Ignite. There is a chance he has way more than anyone has seen. Like, maybe he shot lights out in two workouts with us, or manhandled some other prospects. Im intrigued.

You'll never get the whole package at #24.

How bad of a shooter can we tolerate Beauchamp being? What is the acceptable floor?

+1
Finally someone who's done some homework on the pick. He shot 40% on his 3s as a Freshman, so he has some type of shot. He should be fine.
He's a tough kid with good athleticism and length- damn that is gonna be nice to have on the wing.
Also like that he's not a teenager. He'll be 21 when the season starts. It wont take three years for him to contribute.
It was a 12 game sample size in community college. I sure hope you're right, but let's not overstate things either.

Nothing was overstated. He did it on over 100 shots so the sample size was significant.

Does any #24 pick help immediately? We took the EC Champs to game 7 without Midds, we're not 2008 Boston ffs.
Inadequate perception I reckon it's from the Valium

It's clear they fell in love with adversity angle.
Moore measured better almost across the board at the combine, is a better shooter, better passer, probably as good of a defender, struggled through two seasons of growing pains.
I don't know. I just don't get why you wouldn't take Moore if you want a wing like this.

Hes not going to be asked to score a ton being the 4th option best case. I think 34% from three would be a solid floor

JayMKE wrote:21 and still learning to play is another redflag, does he have the excuse of picking up the game at 16-17? I think DJ was 21…
I agree. Too many things to fix .
At 17 being a point guard I had the best handles on court , court vision, feel for the game, good FT% , average 3pt shooter, good mid range shot.
He is 21 . His wingspan is great for D , but at the same time when your hands are HUGE the shooting mechanics are in most cases bad.
Giannis for instance shaped to his current body at 21 (grew 3 inches etc) . He had to reform his shooting mechanics and while he is a gym rat , it took him another 5 years to start shooting the baseline mid range well .
So it is a typical bad pick. Some NBA GMs favour wingspan over basic basketball skills . In the shooting 3s era we draft defense. We took a huge risk when better overall players where available. I think we will not even extend him on year 3. I hope I am wrong and he becomes the next Kawhi or something. I will support him of course but I know the odds and expectations

Giannis is 27. Khris 31 with a game that'll look good as long as he plays. Jrue hasn't lost a step. No way is the window "closing".

Re: #24 - MarJon Beauchamp
His jumper looked relatively smooth from the limited highlights I saw. It's no like it's MKG level broken, so should be able to develop into a decent catch-n-shoot guy with enough reps. He has NBA ready physique and athleticism so should be able to contribute from the get go, albeit don't expect him to be doing much (if anything) come playoff time.
Anyhoo, best case scenario is he turns into a Danny Green type of guy for us which would be perfect, but it'll be a couple of years to see if he can get there.
