Re: Around the League - Nuggets/Heat Finals
I don’t think this is super likely, but there is a chance Giannis could watch these finals, embrace Jokic as his Magic/Bird… and devote his offseason to really rethinking his game. And IF he did. And if he came back with a 2-4 year burst that maintained his frenetic energy while eliminating bad shots, devoting himself to being a screen man, embracing an offense that relied more on GA post ups vs 1 guy and less dribble drives in to 4 guys, WHILE maintaining his competitiveness and motor I think thats the path for GA to be remembered as the better player than Jokic.
But jeez, Jokic has mastered offensive basketball.

I agree, Joker just does more things than Giannis. Giannis is still easily the #2 current guy in the league, like you said no shame in that.
If Giannis played with the same level of BBIQ as Joker, Giannis would easily be #1 ahead of Joker. Hopefully Griffin can help and we don't see any more 1-8 type of nights from Giannis behind the arc. If I coached Giannis, I'd almost be tempted to tell him he's getting a $5000 fine every time he attempts a 3.
Agreed. If giannis could develop his post game like Duncan and not emulate KD/LeBron he'd be the best player by far. Giannis has another level to unlock unfortunately I don't know if anyone is getting thru to him to unlock that level. Instead he's trying to unlock his jump shot which is so unnecessary right now.
Maybe all the "if only he had a jumpshot got to him"

Giannis already said multiple times that he doesn’t watch other NBA games.

This should be an offensive turnover. It’s so annoying to watch this **** every night. Far more annoying than the block/charge calls in my opinion. Jokic is one of the biggest offenders. He doesn’t even bother with the illusion of setting an actual screen.
You want them to call an offensive foul on a player who didn't touch a defender?

I don’t think Giannis is changing at this point. We get his bad traits with the good. I think we have to try and game plan around minimizing his bad habits.

I've been wrong more times than I have been right, but I think Giannis is more likely to regress than improve. That 'regression' can be slight and still be a Top 3 player for 3-5 years but I think the injuries and decline in athleticism is more likely to bring him down then him suddenly developing a high IQ.

This isn't the best example to use but even if Jokic just grazed him, this is a textbook, blatant moving screen so I get his point. You can't just stick your ass out while backpedaling into a guy, and letting players constantly get away with this stuff has become the biggest officiating problem next to flopping.

Jokic would be way down my list of guys who set illegal screens. In fact, he's one of the few bigs in the league who routinely sets screens that look like they came out of a rule book illustration: feet together, hands gently shading the man parts.
In a series featuring Bam "spreadeagle" Adebayo, I don't think I would ever see Jokic as an egregiously faulty screener, even when he gives a little attempted ass shove, as here.

Gotta appreciate Silver attempting to humble-brag about taking credit for the current league parity with the "by design" comment. As if we didn't witness Golden State win a championship 12-months ago by just literally outspending everyone else.

Re: Around the League - Nuggets/Heat Finals
I also think Giannis is a finished product with the possibility of rounding out his game with consistent free throw shooting. Problem is he seemingly isn't willing to try anything or anyone (in regards to a shooting coach) different.

That's a good hire for Phoenix, and interesting since Booker reportedly wanted Young

Good hire for Phoenix. Get a defensive minded guy in there with all that offensive talent.

Re: Around the League - Nuggets/Heat Finals
Their have been 5 Head Coach hires in the NBA, 4 of the 5 have been to the NBA Finals and 2 of them have won a ring as a Head Coach. The Bucks are the outlier
