He also picked up fouls at the speed of light. He was getting the same quality of shots with the non-starters on the court. He shot wide open 3s and shot his back down iso long 2s. My biggest problem with Bobby is that he offers you nothing defensively and he is rebounding poorly. We can't get stops with him in the game, so him not scoring means he is going to be a net negative.
Yep, glad someone else noticed... he's a traffic cone. We were desperate to soak up min at the 5 until Turner could come close the game. I wonder if we're scared to have Sims with GA... Not enough shooting?

I’d try Sims. He can play D and catch lobs.

Kuzma is back to that first half dozen games after we traded for him where he's doing his best not to be himself but we still don't need him and Bobby on the same squad. They're basically cousins. Giannis could win MVP based just on what looks to be the lineup change where they are trying to maximise his minutes like the Nuggets do with Jokic and just live with the off minutes instead of having him trying to make the 4 worst rotation guys work like we've done since like season 4.

This is why I like pairing him with Turner for all of Turner’s minutes. Turner protects the rim so GA can play free safety. He also spaces the floor and moves on offense which makes things super difficult for defenses. And he can play uptempo. Don’t split them up just because Portis and Kuz don’t work together. Figure out how to not get destroyed for the ten or so GA on the bench minutes. If that means one of Kuz or Bobby have to go then so be it.

I agree and I don't even know if it's the right thing, I just want to see it. Really sick of the Giannis superglue lineups, just feels wrong using your GOAT to keep your poor recruiting choices above water.

Good point. Who's our guard that can take advantage of that though? More-less KPJ?

Cole Anthony. He’s thrown enough feeds to make Kuz seem useful.

A little sloppy with some unfortunate bench defense at times but a win is a win.

I thought Cole was kind of annoying and will have games where he totally tanks the team. He can dribble and create a little so the team will need him and His strengths do compliment Giannis well enough. Good value for a vet min guy.

Turner being able to move is refreshing. His shot is off but he and Giannis are a force inside defensively.

If kuzma can get back to being an okish 3pt shooter and continues not forcing...I like him better than Bobby. He is a capable active defender when engaged and a much better athlete. He's also better as a 4 than a 3.

The 3 guard thing will be fine against most of the league but Toronto has a bunch of big aggressive wings. Green was swallowed up on both sides.

old skool wrote:There are legit reasons to be optimistic about the Bucks this season, but we should keep in mind that the two teams they have defeated so far were a combined 48-116 last season.

Still, it is amazing that the front office has reworked the roster and the coaching staff seems to have done the same with schemes and roles. Let's hope they can do the same with health.

The teams we played are 2-0 against other opponents. Raptors blew out the Hawks. Mavericks couldn't guard Kyshawn George in the Wizards win. Wizards stopped being awful the minute they got Middleton.

Sure, they're not good teams, but they're not the teams they were last year either.

Are we gonna do the same thing we do with Bobby early in the season every year? Act like he'll never play well again and plot to dump him? Only the have roll late in the season and watch his lineups dominate in the playoffs?

Come on guys, learn from your mistakes.

This version of Kuz is 10x better for the style we want to play -- defense and fast -- .. this version of Bobby is completely misfit and he'll be losing minutes to Sims or someone pretty quickly imo.

Bobby's minutes are about to increase, and his level of play will improve with it.

Good thing that Amir Coffey contract isn't guaranteed. He doesn't need to be here long. We should just replace him with a young project, because he won't be helping us.

Cole with a master class. I was sceptical but he is much better than I realised.

Hire coach Rondo for the season

I feel like Rollins is on the cusp of being an elite defender.

Not that Kuzma is much of a difference maker but two sprained ankles (Porter Jr and Kuzma) in two games is concerning.

Agreed. He's the NBAs leader in deflections with 15. He's Donte, but he can finish at the rim too.

Let’s see if he can play himself into shape. But he’s looked lost out there in his limited minutes

That was impressive.

All the shots and plays he likes to do and is good at.

Are all things a Giannis team desperatly need from a guard

I specifically remember you saying you were very high on him and correct me if I'm wrong...but you mentioned he might be one of our top 3 or 4 players on the team this year. I thought that was a wild take. It's early....but good call.

Correct. I've been begging for the Bucks to trade for him for like 3 years. His personality and skillset are like glove in hand fits for this team. We want him to play the way he wants to play if that makes sense

So suddenly this is the year he doesn't round in to form? Nah, we've seen this movie before.

Bobby as the backup 4/5 is going to be one of the strengths of this team again.
