I'm always sad when good writing gets pre-empted by base concerns. It's like when you write a good post and you swore you wrote a good post and then you look and - wha? - no post.

Gawker was a helluva breeding ground for a lot of my favorite writers. Those incubators are in scant supply nowadays.

And Roth's last piece today [intro-ing the Deadcast] is something else.

Pudding is underrated. Some people like yogurt, some like ice cream, others favor gelatin (?) of some sort, which I guess? I say reach for pudding as a "dessert" / final course to your meal. If you live in an upwardly mobile or gentrified neighborhood, you probably are in close proximity to a Trader Joe's. They make a fine rice pudding. You (visitors of Milwaukee Bucks real gm dot com) will thank me for it.

Yes, I'm watching the game too, but I just saw (which may be late) that all writers and editors have now left Deadspin. All writers and editors.

Either someone scheduled tweets that weren't cancelled, or someone at Zombie Deadspin is going rogue.

Someone's gone rogue and it's wonderful.

No way this article stays up until morning.
At a party given by a billionaire, Kurt Vonnegut informs Joseph Heller that their host had made more money in a single day than Heller had earned from his novel Catch-22.

Heller responds, “Yes, but I have something he will never have — ENOUGH.”

I was pleasantly surprised when they didn't nuke that column when it was posted three months ago.

On the list of annoying driving habits, is there anything more annoying than someone who doesn't turn right on red (when there's no sign saying you can't?)

Cote says Le Batard will be back on November 11th so I can just skip the show this week and be a lot more productive.

True. I actually really liked the episodes where Dianna Russini filled in.

Camping in the passing lane, trying to pass someone on a two lane highway and they speedup to try to get you killed in the other lane, crowding the box so cars with the opposite light can't get through, people who inch through stopped heavy traffic from a parking lot and blindly enter the opposite lane of the street.

I gave up on that week after the first episode with Stu. He's unbearable with Russini and Mikey C, basically making the same jokes over and over and over again.

Someone who passes you and then drives slower than you.

Any time Amin is in is good too. But anytime Stu has to carry the load it's painfully awful.
