I think we put too much weight on the Jrue upgrade. In 2017-18 Pelicans had Jrue, DMC and AD and nobody thought they were contenders. I don't remember their bench but I can't imagine it was worse than ours

Actually their bench was even worse. DMC went down with that injury but they did well replacing him with Mirotic and they also had Rondo who was once again huge in the playoffs. But outside of Rondo/Jrue/AD/Mirotic they relied on E'Twaun Moore, Solomon Hill, Darius Miller and Ian Clark. Their depth couldn't be worse.

I don't particularly like the roster. We have upgraded Bledsoe to Holiday and we have lost massively in depth. It reminds me this bench we had with Liggins, Job, Payton the 3rd etc.

Who is our backup center? Apart from Lopez who is the big body we can put on Embiid for example
Our backcourt is Jrue and DDV both mediocre shooters, last year we had Wes who we could defend big SGs like Leonard and Butler this year we have this Forbes guy that can't defend anybody

we want Bud to play more the starters especially in the playoffs but injuries happen, people get in foul trouble or have bad games, are we going to play the 2nd round rookies or Thanasis and Wilson

Kevin Huerter is going to turn heads this year. Kid was 12/4/4 on 38% from three as a 21 year old. I think he's on the cusp of entering elite NBA floor spacer territory, which I don't think Donte ever touches. I love Donte, but I'd deal Donte for Huerter without thinking twice. I said it during that draft, and I'll say it again, Huerter has far more wiggle and floor game than people think. I think Huerter has legitimate fringe all-star upside, I think Donte is going to have a long super role player career.

I could see Huerter making the jump above his present Tony Snell status, but he'll never approach the value of Donte.

Why even waste the time and space to say such a stupid thing?

Your right, Huerter has done work to do to become a 40% 3 point shooter, and he'll never defend like Snell.

With several weak links in the D, I'm really not feeling confident as #1 D in the league.

As someone else mentioned we seem to have over corrected. We have more shooting with less 2-way dominance.

Our team unquestionably got better. We upgraded at pg from a guy that is buns in the playoffs to a guy that is really good and got a lot better at shooting as a team. Honestly did we even get worse in any position? Can't be center because Robin was unplayable in the playoffs. Portis is the back up c/pwf that is similar but younger than Marvin. Craig replaces Matthews for defending wings. Augustin is a downgrade from Hill in defense and passing. Forbes coming off the bench as a shooter.

Lost in all of this is that I expect DDV to take big strides this year at establishing himself as a starter.

Disagree. We got Portis to play backup center and he can switch better on defense than Brook in certain matchups, that helps us a lot. Craig is good at defending wings, Jrue is an even better defender than Bledsoe was, and DDV getting more minutes should help to guard players in the 6'2-6'7 range.
