The team needs a couple of PoA defenders. They're role players. Not that hard to get. Maybe a backup center that defends.

Yeah, sometimes the bench doesn't score enough or defend enough. All benches do that, the NBA is a game of runs.

I've been a Brook critic for a long time, but he hasn't aged a bit, and the leagues best teams are now center driven, making it easier to match up with him. Middleton gets better every week.

Horst just needs to acquire the right role players.

Brook has definitely aged. He’s definitely far more willing to stand around the perimeter on offense than get down low in the paint. He used to be elite at boxing out and now he’s gotten lazier. He’s always complained to the refs, but he seems to do so even more now.

He’s not barbecue chicken, but he’s definitely not the Brook of last year or even the years prior.

This is all true. But does our used crap plus two 2nds get us what we need?

Lots of teams are looking for size. I think we'll be pleasantly surprised by Bobby's market. Teams have always had interest in Pat, and he's now shooting well.

We'll get a PoA defender, or 2. The tricky one will be a backup defensive center that can shoot a little.

One thing Brook has to do is shut up and stop complaining to the refs. Think he's getting a bad whistle right now and I chalk it up to his whining.

Fotis St wrote:i wish anyone in the Coaching staff just whispered Fotis St idea to internally fix some lineup issues ... like Start Portis, Green over Brook and Beasley , as I have been saying since the start of the season. Beas and Brook can provide the bench scoring needed to not be a negative bench. Beasley on contract year is a cheat code, use him wisely. If Khris is healthy Beas will not have as many shots he wants ... this is a regular season fix ... come playoffs just start Beas if necessary. We never saw how Green can handle it as a starter SG... maybe its time.

PS I'm tired of saying things 2 years early. It takes too long for ppl to figure out solutions or even acknowledge the problem

Not many coaches like to experiment. Especially Doc type coaches and especially on a team that's supposed to be contending. Griffin had the perfect opportunity to experiment and he didn't.

Someone talk me off the ledge with this team, It's starting to settle in that there might be no more buttons to push. My expectations are fading

I agree that he's not Contract Year Brook, but he's the same guy he was when we won the title.

ShootingtheJ defending brook is my favorite example of how topsy-turvy this board is lately. It’s a wild place in here.

We could really use Rich Paul's help extorting the Hawks to send us Murray.

Yup Doc getting Dame's head in the right place and then unlocking the combo with Giannis is going to matter way more than any move we can make.

Horst does need to make a move though. It was predictable and predicted that Beasley would make our backcourt defense a sieve something's gotta give there.

I'm not expecting much this season. I don't think there's anything they can realistically do that would make me believe they can beat a healthy Celtics team. I know I'm in the minority but I'd start thinking about the immediate future today.

Is there anything we can do today to get better for next season?

I think moving Khris and/or Brook for younger guys. I can't see either of them becoming more valuable as time goes on. That could also fix the bench issues and having at least one of them gone now could open up more opportunities for Dame to look more like himself. I'm still convinced part of the problem with him is having to keep Khris and Brook happy on offense - there's a lot of mouths to feed.

It might mean pushing buttons in the summer. We will have a first round pick (our own) and Portland's 2nd round pick. Those would be the 25th and 34th pick respectively. Maybe Doc and Joerger can help Horst pick better there. Or we deal a vet along with the picks for something better.

I don't envy Horst right now with the expectation to find some upgrade with our crap collection of assets.

At this point I don't think I'd waste our limited "assets" on a marginal move this year. Our bench crap that we want to upgrade is not landing us anything. A major shakeup trade and a new coach midstream = we are not winning it all this year. Just ride it out and explore a larger re-shuffling in the offseason when we have more picks to use.

If Dame returns to form and we get just 1 longboi defender by next week then we don't even need as much help as we got the year we won it to win it again.

Blocks from Brook are great but I think a Center that moves there feet would help more. Plus, you can funnel the defense to Giannis so he is the rim protector. If Brook can get you Wendell Carter and pieces in a 3 or 4 team deal. I would do it.

Yeah he's always been that way to a point but he's getting way worse.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.
