The underrated aspect of dealing Giannis a couple weeks before the deadline is you're also throwing up the flare that the rest of the team can be had too. Like, once Giannis is gone there's no way Turner, Bobby, Gary, or Green should be here. Not really sold on KPJ either, tbh.

Rollins

Turner
But then you get to the bench and realize how terrible our depth is. No one there except Bobby and Trent. And no good small forward unless we can get Jaime there.
I’d prefer to keep Green but want to dump Kuzma and AJGreen may be needed.
I don't think Green can be traded this season.

Look, this is like way down the list of deals I’d want to do. But trying to spitball it if we’re stuck dealing with Miami.

Need a young star player back in any trade. That's the bare minimum. Picks should be sweeteners.

Maybe if his name was Denise instead of Dennis.

MIL: Karl Anthony Towns, Jabari Smith Jr, Tari Eason, 2026 1st (NYK), 2027 1st (BKN), 2030 1st (NYK), 2026 2nd (MIL)
NYK: Giannis, Thanasis, VanVleet, Capela, A. Holiday
HOU: OG Anunoby, Bobby Portis
Would Houston give up the BKN 2027 1st here? Might need to include AJG or the 2031 1st swap rights. Would this be enough for us?

Re: Giannis Thread - Giannis Trade Ideas Here - Haynes report pg 57
Honestly, I don't see any team with young talents trading for Giannis. Teams like OKC, Spurs, Pistons, Hawks, Magic. Their development path simply doesn't align with Giannis.
Team with veterans are different story. New York, 76ers, Heat, Minnesota, Warriors. I can see Giannis in one of those teams.
And the NBA will see it the same way. This is all their doing. They create narrative, their refs make us bad, their media guys lead the way. They will want Giannis in those teams. And the package we get back will be around win now players like KAT or Bam.
This is official Sigra prediction

We have to remember we are not stuck dealing with anyone.

Feels like Houston gives up the lions share of the value to get the Knicks scraps instead of Giannis.

He said he thinks Russel Westbrook is better than KPJ, so he probably cut him.

AJ Green can not be traded this season because of how late his extension was.

Where I’m stuck is if he keeps up what he’s doing we may have trouble matching offers he’d get on the open market.
And if we are blowing it up KPJ wouldn’t have the same benefit of continuity here where he might take less guaranteed short term dollars.
If KPJ puts a trade package over the top for a team that wants to leverage the chemistry with Giannis if only for this season, I don’t think that’d necessarily be a stop for us, especially if we’d be getting a premier guard in return.

I keep coming back to Houston as the team that makes the most sense.
Their trade for Durant was a clear attempt to win now, and they sacrificed long-term assets to make that happen. They have to assess a) do they think that they can beat OKC as is during this relatively short window with Durant, and b) if the answer is no, do they just write the Durant trade off as a failed experiment or double down on the bet by making a real run at adding Giannis.

Why are we even discussing Miami? We were only forced to talk about the Knicks stuff because that's the only substantiated rumor so far. But they've shown zero indication he cares about Miami or that it's an organization he wants to play for.
Remember when just two years ago Riley was desperately trying to move Herro to facilitate a Dame trade and couldn't find a single taker? Herro sucks (the league's already spoken on his trade market), Bam (even if I love the player) is who he is, and all of their prospects and draft assets not named Kel'el Ware are of the JAG variety. Another team that doesn't have the assets anyways so it's all moot.

Rockets have a history with top tier big men too.
And it wouldn’t be hard for them to match salaries.
Whatever combo of young star talent they’d be giving up would be in a roster crunch post-Giannis anyways.
How the Bucks value Houston’s best offer compared to what else we could get is a different question.

For real that's almost on par with a Knicks deal. Hard no.

We need to be laser focused on Jalen Johnson after that Rich Paul thing the other day. Seeds have been planted. 23/10/8 shooting 53% from the field and 40% from 3. A couple triple doubles in the last week. Kid is blossoming into a star quickly.

Boredom to pass the time until 12/15.
I do think you were ahead of the game a week ago with the Castle/Harper package as #1. But after last night, there really isn't a reason for SA to give up both. I could however still see Harper maybe.

How do we rate Amen Thompson vs other premier assets we theoretically might be able to pull?
Amen is an elite 2-way 6’7 wing who can’t shoot and is playing out of position at PG in Houston.
I haven’t seen anything yet that’d make me think the Rockets wouldn’t include him in a Giannis package.
