Re: OT: TV and Movies (With Spoilers)
I've watched Walking Dead from the beginning. It was pretty good for awhile. Then it wasn't. I stuck with it though figuring I'd see it play out. Forget plot holes (there can be no plot holes, it's zombies for God's sake). It moves sooooo damn slow. But I thought when they announced they were ending the series they would pick up the pace. Nope. Last night was an hour on how Darryl ended up having a dog (flashbacks). Terrible. And while the series is ending they are doing a spinoff with 2 of the characters (which I guess was the basis of last night's episode). I won't be watching the spinoff. A lot of series have gone on too long in order to milk cash but this is ridiculous. I much prefer Fear the Walking Dead although that one suffers from the same thing, it moves too damn slow. But I like Garret Dillahunt and Lennie James. I've made it this far I'll go to the end but ugh.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I got as far as the season where Negan showed up and did you know what to Glenn. After that season I just slowly stopped watching. I've been meaning to finish it just to say I've seen it all, but you're 1000% right on the pace. It starts becoming a slog to get through.

Yeah, I pulled the plug on TWD after Rick's last episode. Saw that the next episode was going to have a huge time jump and took that exit ramp, figuring I'd catch up later if it seemed like it would be worth it. When the comic ended abruptly the next summer it all drained out of my mind.

Apple TV just credited you $4.99 to your account, presumably because they haven't come out with **** in a while.

Same here. But with the introduction of The Whisperers, it got my attention again. And there were some pretty good episodes in that stretch. But these last 2 episodes, yikes.
The final season (2022) is said to have 24 episodes. So there's still a ways to go before we're put out of our misery.

That's basically where I got. I read how awfully funded the show was and it showed (they stayed at a farm for a whole season). Bring in the worst cgi deer ever and the same formulaic nothing happens each episode except for the last 5 minutes and cliffhanger to end each episode, I had enough. There is an insane amount of content out there, hanging on to see something through doesn't make sense to me, but maybe I'm different. I tend to bail on shows all the time when they drag on for seasons and are obviously getting worse.

The next villain is the best the show has ever seen or pretty damn close to it. Though admittedly, it's long been a show I will get one or two seasons behind and then come back to it and binge it. I maybe watched seasons 1-4 when they actually aired.

Not a high bar to clear! At any rate I'm aware they did the Whisperers plotline.

OK I'm just about done with Season 2 and it's much better. There is still some cringe-worthy dialog (e.g. a 17 story earthworm explodes out of a mountain, everyone turns and looks at it, Mandalorian says "There it is!") but it's better. And the plot is warming up too. Also, I think the acting is just better. Maybe better budget for better actors? I know I won't miss Gina Carano one bit. She's horrible. Also, I love seeing all the old Deadwood dudes.

Re: OT: TV and Movies (With Spoilers)
It’s recently come to my attention that making fun of the marvel movies/MCU and people for enjoying them is kind of the en Vogue hipster thing to do. This is so bizarre to me.
There’s a time and a place for almost any modality of entertainment. I have to say however that going back and watching this scene just always reminds me that I don’t believe there will ever be a bigger accomplishment in filmmaking than the MCU from beginning to end. When you consider the scale/expectations/money/passionate fan base, it’s actually insane that they pulled off a satisfying conclusion over the course of damn near 15 years. This is the crescendo.

Re: OT: TV and Movies (With Spoilers)
Artistically it's derivative and repetitious, but logistically it is the greatest accomplishment in the history of the medium, at least until Avatar 50 comes out.
I enjoy it. With a few exceptions, there's a lot of craft and care put into them. Some of them are really funny. I just don't get down with the fanboy "give it all the awards" ****. Its recognition comes in the form of eyeballs and dollar signs.
It's also the only kind of movie that can succeed in theaters, which, I don't know that there's blame to be assigned, but it's a shame if you like hearing original voices at the theater.

The show is trash. It started off so well, but got ridiculously boring. I stopped watching around 2016/2017ish. I have a long list of shows that I stopped watching, that I would rather continue watching than TWD.

This is around the time a stopped watching. Last thing I remember is Daryl eating dog food in a jail cell.

Yeah. Greatest achievement in filmmaking? Absolutely not. Greatest achievement in producing a film franchise? Sure.

I absolutely agree with this statement. Marvel movies are sometimes excellent, mostly very good, and occasionally a miss. That’s a hell of an accomplishment for a franchise lasting this long.
