Re: OT: Music Thread
One of my favorite songs to listen to while I'm reading and relaxing on the recliner. Or driving my Alfa Romeo. The king of cool was one of the smoothest baritones ever.
"Wes, Hill, Ibaka, Allen, Nwora, Brook, Pat, Ingles, Khris are all slow-mo, injury prone ... a sandcastle waiting for playoff wave to get wrecked. A castle with no long-range archers... is destined to fall. That is all I have to say."-- FOTIS

Just heard this track today. Need to dive into it and the artist more, but really liking the first couple listens.

First I've heard that one. Legit!
War on Drugs are incredible. I actually had tickets to them in Milwaukee two years ago, but it was on the Super Bowl and Packers still had a shot so I gave them up. My buddy that went said they were incredible.

Watched Babylon on paramount last night and it’s super long and wild and weird at times for the sake of being weird but I loved the soundtrack. Mostly different takes on the same theme but so good

Countless waze, we pass the daze...
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

Re: OT: Music Thread
When this song comes on in the car, I am liable to inadvertently drive my car off the road while belting it out at the top of my lungs.
One of my all-time favorites.
Just put yourself in my new shoes
And see that I do what I do
Because the old guard still offend (Their pudgy hearts and shiny hands)
They've got nothing left on which we depend
So enlist every ounce
Of your bright blood
And off with their heads
Jump from the hook
You're not obliged to swallow anything you despise
One of my all-time favorites.
Just put yourself in my new shoes
And see that I do what I do
Because the old guard still offend (Their pudgy hearts and shiny hands)
They've got nothing left on which we depend
So enlist every ounce
Of your bright blood
And off with their heads
Jump from the hook
You're not obliged to swallow anything you despise

I said a few weeks ago that Arlo Parks is my vibe (and it holds true), but damn, every Soccer Mommy single hits. I need to add Sometimes Forever to my vinyl collection.

Friends, Nighshift may be one of the best engineered/mixed/produced songs of all time.

Re: OT: Music Thread
Anyone have a starter's guide for both jazz and classical? Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata is getting reps on my Spotify Like's playlist, and I just watched Whiplash for the 10th time.

Middle of the road jazz to get you going
Coleman Hawkins - Encounters Ben Webster
Wayne Shorter - Speak No Evil
Art Blakey - Mosaic
Lee Morgan - Search for the New Land
Thelonious Monk - Live at Carnegie Hall with John Coltrane
Stan Getz - With Guest Artist Laurindo Almeida
Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Rip, Rig and Panic
Joe Henderson - Mode for Joe
Wes Montgomery - Smokin' at the Half Note
Oliver Nelson - Blues and the Abstract Truth
I think this all falls between 1955-1965 and is the most "jazz" of what neophytes would consider "jazz."
Can't help you out on classical.
