Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Yea funny we talked a week or two back about the bigger wing kind of being a pipe dream but they did pull it off. Seems like a very good add and type of player they've been sorely lacking. Wonder if that's it or if there's a spot for a big too.

Depth taken care of.
Gard has shown an affinity for playing with more pace if he has the horses. He's got'em now.
Imperative for Crowl and Wahl to be more decisive in the post. There's guys who can exploit stressed defenses. Hope he makes it a priority.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I’m assuming they’re going to play small at times with Storr as a 4 basically because they’re almost overloaded at the 1-3. Great pickup. I think Gard is understanding the transfer era a bit now.

My guess is Storr being from an hour away was a not-insignificant factor.

Aren’t the technically 1 scholarship over the limit if you assume that the scholarships for Neath, Gilmore, and Lindsey go to the 3 freshman and Davis goes to Reynolds? Who else do you think leaves?

Sure, but Champaign wasn’t much further away and they were after him. I’m impressed that Gard won one of these and isn’t doing the, “eh, we’ve got Jordan Davis and he’ll probably develop into something” roster management plan.

This is better. Im not sure what they saw in Reynolds. He's not a very good defender, nor shooter. Just seems a lot like Jordan Davis.
Storr has a chance to be good for us. We will see. Im just as excited about Yalden/Winter/Blackwell coming to the squad next year. So Storr is a good get.

Reynolds can play off the bounce and finish. He fits a need. Really no one outside of Klesmit can do that. Chuckie isn't much of a driver at this point and more heavily relies on backing guys down or spotting up.
I'm confident Gus can play. Winter will be good, only question is how soon. Blackwell looks promising, but UW guards have been harder to gauge lately.

Please note I will be referring to Nolan Winter as "Nolan Winters" going forward, carrying on the tradition of Brad Davidson and John Hammonds. Will be interesting to see how 2024 swingman Jack Robinson handles his senior year.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I was hoping Janowski and Knueppel would come to UW. Looks like they blew it by adding Storr and Reynolds, or they knew they werent coming here... either way, another fail by Gard's recruiting. Hate to see talented in-state guys go to **** schools instead of UW. They really, really didnt need to burn a spot on Reynolds.
Not to mention, giving Neath/McGee/Lindsey scholarships for "depth" is going to burn the team in the ass for years to come too. They have to stop giving top 500 players scholarships and start re-focusing in the midwest. I know some of you do not believe in the regional aspect of recruiting, but I am firmly convinced it exists. You need to bring that sense of pride back for recruits to belong to something somewhat local, especially with top 150 players each year.

They didn't want Janowski and Knueppel is a high priority recruit.
Nebraska is the only big program that offered Jaonowksi.
You've decided to ignore what Reynolds brings to the table and your pronouncements on him are in opposition to both his stats and his tape.
Chill.

From my understanding they are still in on Kon and it's down to Wisconsin & Virginia for him. For Janowski both Wisconsin & Marquette backed off in recent months and Nebraska was his only commitable P6 offer at the moment and he jumped on it
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

Stats and Tape both show a bench player, that does not shoot well and defends poorly. What are you watching? Maybe its a product of how bad his team was, but I just dont see it. He's basically a Jordan Davis clone. Just sick of them going after these tweener DI players because they fit Gard's paradigm of play. McGee, Neath, Lindsey, Gilmore... and more, just why??? How can you NOT be sick of this. I'd rather they just went the freshman route, than pick up a towel waiver with less years eligible and has already soured on one team.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
Obviously its fair to just not think a player is good enough to be worthy of an offer. But I really don't think it should have high effect on any potential freshman recruits. Pre-portal if you did such things you'd have your scholarships locked up and not have spots to offer high school kids. Now, spots/scholarships can always be made. Basically, that possible freshman recruit knows 2-3 people will be transferring away and spots will be there. In the past the Jordan Davis etc type would sit there 5 years holding up a spot. Not so much now. I'm happy with both transfers, maybe if you knew the 2nd one was coming you'd have held off on the 1st, but that's easy to say now. We wanted some more athleticism, shot making, quickness, etc and they got it.

I don’t think Reynolds fits in the category with those other guys, though I’ll admit there’s risk.
Reynolds shoots pretty efficiently/well. He took a ton of their shots so that probably made his harder. He is stepping up in competition, though, so cancel it out. All-in-all I think he’ll be a solid 2nd bench guard.

Re: Wisconsin Badgers Thread
I'm not as close to this stuff as I used to and I understand Kon is very highly rated so it's not like I'm taking a hard stance. Don't get me wrong, of course I'd like to get him. But to me I still get a bit of the 'ok more of the same' type vibe, not unlike I do with Gus also. If we get him of course I hope he's more Herro than the long list of mid level guys we've had who everyone complains about for not being quick enough, thick enough, can't get their own shot, etc.
Obviously as a big shooting guy I'm all for getting him and hopefully they manage not to mess up shooting like they have for others.
