Would be a very Kyrie move. Then he can claim he's like the "little guy" by taking a discount to "create art" with Durant.

Phoenix would need to play with at least two basketballs, probably three for that to make any kind of basketball sense.

But cant they do an Ayton sign and trade? The leverage from ky would be he threatens either to sign with a 3rd team if they don't agree to it or he does return and sulks and destroying your team internally like he did in Brooklyn.

I think he just resigns with the Mavs but I think you are discounting it too much as a possibility.

A S&T would hard cap Phoenix at 172 mil, and even if they cut literally everyone and signed Kyrie to 30mil to salary match with Ayton (which would be a discount given what Kyrie could get), they’d be at 164.4 mil for like 5 players, with 9-10 roster spots they’d need to fill.

Kyrie would basically need to sign for the minimum lol.

Is there no hard cap anymore that prevents a sign and trade like this?
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

I don't how KD wouldn't have a "F no" to that guy after BKN. But yea, at vet min is way different than finagling a way to pay him 150 mil

I mean for all his motor issues Ayton is still an incredibly gifted big man and is the same age as their superstar. If Kyrie is serious about leaving that’s not the absolute worst outcome for Dallas. Obviously not where you want to be but better than Kyrie going somewhere else or killing your franchise because he’s sulking.

Isn’t a S&T not even possible due to the hard cap for Phoenix?

I have done no math.

Phoenix and GSW should both go for starting lineups of all guards/forwards. Just skip the bigmen.

Thanks for the correction. It would be entertaining as hell if they enticed him with a 5/170 with multiple player options. Had Him/Beal/Book/KD and 9 rookies and mid guys where they say f the regular season, lets just get in and play those guys 40mpg in the playoffs.

The Kyrie suns thing is a leverage play by Kyrie and only kind of works because he's crazy enough that the Mavs might somewhat believe he would actually take the min.

I don't really get why Harden opt'd in it he wants out. I'm probably missing something.

Looking at the teams that want harden. How do they trade Harden and remain title contenders?

Will be interesting to see how this one plays out. If Miami thinks the ship has sailed on Dame do they move onto him, the issue with that is that Philly's going to be looking to get back something approximating equal value and not cap relief so I don't think Lowry and Oladipo does anything for Philly. In which case it becomes Herro and a Herro + Maxey backcourt is basically the equivalent of a layup line.

Edit: Woj said Clippers and Knicks and Shams said Clippers

Harden for Paul George and what else???

I’m expecting it to be Harden + Korkmaz for George and a 28 pick swap or something like that.

I don't think it works straight up so you'd probably have to add a 3rd team to add some salary filler, but I think Harden and Korkmaz for PG and Kobe Brown is the primary framework for a possible deal.

Maybe Philly can use Harden to get out of Harris's contract too. They'd be a much scarier team if they got rid of both guys, addition by subtraction.
