I think we can talk him into putting Keegan Murray into the deal.

So long as the Bucks get Ellis. He's the one to target on that team.

I thought you were talking about an overpay? You haven't even gotten to something that keeps us a contender next year.

Fun fact: Pat Connaughton was more victories over replacement last year than Harrison Barnes.

That’s the deal. Vivek won’t do it. Dame probably doesn’t report, although he’d be only a 90 minute flight to Portland and his kids.

I’d add pick #23 if it took that to get it done. We get arguably the same player but eight years younger.

The Thon Maker draft night thread. Everything was going along fine for about ten pages until someone dropped the Reddit posts about him being older. In many ways this thread was every bit as epic as the Ramon Sessions FA thread (2009) and Tobias trade (2013).

Love re-routing Smart to a coach who liked him,, and get a better, cheaper player in Vince Williams. Now can you re-route Adams too?

To me the only telling trade would be dropping enough salary to duck under the 2nd apron before July 1st. This will be very telling as to what sort of offseason to expect. If we drop below it, then chances are Horst is looking to take another big swing. If not, then he's comfortable running it back with our big three and looking to add more complimentary players.

We still need a smaller ball big option we could trust down the stretch of games next yr. Would Philly do Paul Reed for Pat + 33/another high 2nd we picked up in another trade? Though Philly may just want to waive Reed, cuz apparently his deal was contingently ng'ed & they could use space for FA's. In which case we could sell Reed on a bigger role here in a prove it deal.

Only players I'd be interested in trading up for are Devin Carter and Jared McCain. I doubt Carter is available outside of the top 10 but McCain could still be available in the 12-15 range.

I’m checking in on Lonzo.

If he’s healthy enough by the time the regular season is winding down he could be an ideal 5th starter if he buys into the role. Defender/facilitator/spot up guy. Can’t think of a better boom/bust guy for us. On a one year deal I don’t see the harm (obviously pending you get a good look at his medicals).

He has a $21MM player option which I'm sure he'll be opting into.

These two and Holland are the ones I’d consider it for but Holland is probably more of a long-term project so maybe not ideal for us.

I get it where you see Keon as the prize vs Keegan, pedigree be damned.

Sacramento could be making the same calculus. Conversely if they are so high on Ellis is could be making Murray seem more expandable for an immediate win now piece like Middleton.

Where Vivek stands on Keon seems like a bigger variable than Coach:

Kings' Mike Brown Sounds Off on Keon Ellis After Win vs. Bucks

He's got an uncanny ability to defend the pick and roll, to be a great weak side help defender, strong side help defender. He's really, really elusive and really quick back to the ball, and what people don't realize is how long his arms are. Then, he's got a motor where he just keeps pursuing, keeps pursuing, and keeps pursuing, and you need to have that relentless attitude if you want to be a great defender or an elite defender, and he definitely has it. I know there's probably somebody out there that I've been around that's been like him, not many guys though, but he has a chance to be a special defender.

And it's still terrible.

Keegan Murray, Ellis, Barnes, and #13 would be far from a terrible return for Middleton at this point. I could be convinced to pull the trigger on that deal even without 13 attached. Boy do some of you guys have a lot of faith in Keon Ellis being really good though.

Yea, if they wanted to make the deal Middleton for Barnes, Murray, and Ellis I'd still pull the trigger on that one.

I think you could take advantage of a desperate Kings team while getting younger and more versatile in the process.

Murray and Ellis?

Maybe Mike Brown got me overhyped on Keon but that seems like an exceptional return for us even with the dumb Kings factor.

Imagine we’d include #23 at least and maybe the Kings package it with #13 for something else.

Sacramento needs a big man somehow. We’ve talked about Bobby or Brook heading that way but I’m not clear on whether either would be a good enough compliment (in their minds) to Sabonis.

If this is the deal, you take it and run. This is a fantastic return...probably in the minority though lol
