The Blazers could probably do a combination of deals that expire after next season like: Anfernee Simons, Deandre Ayton, etc.

If you want to dump Kuzma, we could add in Jerami Grant.

I haven’t hung up yet.

Add Avdija and its a deal

Ironically, Deni is the reason to bring Dame back.

Deni, Camara, Sharp and Scoot are really more slashers, who sometimes shoot well. What the Blazers needs is consistent perimeter shooting. If the Bucks need a wing, the Blazers do have several to consider.

Dame is a massive contract, and the Blazers can provide some salary relief. However, pulling someone from Deni, Camara, Sharp and Scoot is going to be costly.

Dame has entered Khris Middleton territory now where he’s more valuable to Milwaukee than anyone else in the league. I’d imagine you’d be searching around looking for another Kyle Kuzma, in Portlands case is Jerami Grant. Grant/Simons or Grant/Williams maybe? I’m not saying never trade Dame but that’s an easy pass for me, I’d rather keep him.

This intrigued me. I wonder if he’d want to go back?

I’m thinking Dame for Simons but the question is what else to balance it out on the salary side. Grant is a terrible contract, just terrible. I think I’d want back our two pick swaps and 28 pick. And I don’t even know if I want to do that to take Grant’s contract. It’s $32, $34 and $36 million of dead money after this point.

Not all of us are interested in a reunion tour, certainly not with picks attached.

Doubtful there is a deal that works for both teams.

No way. 1st, he's not valuable to us. 2nd, there are plenty of teams that will lineup if he becomes avaliable. Teams do dumb things. He doesn't have the baggage Jimmy had.

Where are you rerouting Simons to? Orlando? Why would we want a pick and a couple pick swaps back? You have somewhere to reroute them too?

Simons, Ayton, and 1 of your swaps back for Lillard.

Would you make the deal? Both Simons and Ayton are on expiring contracts(25-26 being the final year).

Alright, rolling with Emunney’s idea to target Lauri and sprinkling in everybody’s other favorite target.

Mke in: Lauri, Eason, Beal
Mke out: Dame, Bobby, Kuzma, Pat, ‘31 1st

Uta in: Bobby, Kuzma, Pat, Mke ‘31 1st, cle ‘25 1st, cle ‘29 1st
Uta out: Lauri

Phx in: FVV
Phx out: Beal, cle ‘25 1st, cle ‘29 1st

Hou in: Dame
Hou out: FVV, Eason

Why for us?
Spoiler:
We get a giant movement shooter in Lauri who has a ton of off-ball ability, but can also capably attack and finish at the hoop off the bounce with the idea that we’ll lean more into point Giannis. In addition we get one of the most versatile and impactful young perimeter defenders who also has some offensive chops.

We take on the absolute worst contract in the league to facilitate this deal, but I’d be somewhat bullish on Beal not being a terrible player if brought around the stability and leadership of Giannis. Ride out Beal’s contract as the bench player he should be.

Why for Houston?
Spoiler:
Gambo has reported the offer for KD would likely be Jalen Green, Eason, and a Phx 1st. I think lessening that package by removing the 1st and swapping Green for FVV seems like a plausible Dame deal.

Houston gets a highly efficient 1st option without destroying their core.

Everybody loves Eason, but Houston continues to seem like a team that doesn’t fully embrace him as a long term core guy.

Why for Phx?
Spoiler:
They move off the worst contact in the league by attaching two of their later 1sts that they recently acquired, and get a solid player in FVV to help them now.

They can still follow that up with a KD trade to finish their big moves.

Why for Utah?
Spoiler:
They are a re-building team without any clear core players. They cash in on Lauri who will be 28 at the end of this season, and get 3 1sts along with two expiring contracts and Kuzma. They could still flip Bobby for more draft ammo later.

_________

KPJ Beal FA
Rollins Green Draft
Eason Dre FA
Lauri FA Smith
Giannis Brook Sims

Use full MLE on KPJ and BAE on Rollins. Re-sign brook to around a two year 24M contract. Re-sign Sims to the min, and bring in other min free agents. Cut Livingston and use the 2nd round pick.

I could see some type of a Simons, Grant, and our picks/swaps back for Dame and Pat. Giving up the best player and us taking on that bad Grant deal should make giving up the picks palatable for Por.

No. I’m keeping them, so that if Giannis leaves, we can tank.

I get that we had to make the Dame trade to keep Giannis. Totally get it. And it made sense at the time. But have a feeling it will go down as one of our worst trades ever depending on what happens with those 2028-2030 picks.

I keep looking at Grant’s stat line from this season. The league hasn’t had as many bad contracts the past few years as there were a decade or two ago. But I think Grant’s will be ranked #1 come this offseason.

It was a terrific trade. Dame had great trade value. We may have blew it be not trading Dame at the deadline. However, I don't buy your "the sky is falling" mantra one bit.

We can get out of this mess, we just need ownership to get out of the way and hire a real GM.

Giannis isn't going anywhere, he's having a blast right now. We've won 73% of our games with Giannis but no Dame. The only way he'd want out is if we refuse to trade Dame, and of course we'll trade Dame.

Nope. We'll do way better. The Kings, among others, are suckers.

That doesn't make any sense. How is he the most valuable to us when we have a #1 option already, makes us have 2 of the 3 highest paid players in the NBA & has such poor chemistry w/ our better star it was able to be superseded in a month by a guy making peanuts we got for a bust?

Shams reported on the pregame show Dame "should" be back at some point in the playoffs. He has a big exam coming up the next few days. Says the clot is shrinking.

Was coming here to say that. I'd still be surprised if he shows up this year, but maybe we get a miracle.

I’m struggling to decide how we should play the rotation if he somehow comes back. Start him with Giannis right away? Also should he primarily play off ball? That would be my preference since Giannis and KPJ are both proving to be great with primary ball handling duties.

I think the best asset the Blazers could send back is Scoot Henderson as a #3 overall pick. Scoot put up some monster games this year. He's still inconsistent, but he showed some impressive games this season.

i took a look at last year's playoff scheduling and have determined the following:

1. We should be hoping for a Sunday game 1.
2. One East series will get the Sun, Wed, Sat start to the series. So starting the series as late as possible and then getting 3 days between games back to back. We should be hoping for this as it would provide the greatest chance of Dame coming back in this first series.
