Will they be holding the Larry O’Brien trophy with those past their prime players? I would bet no. We most likely won’t either, and we now look to have lost our regular season mojo too.

I admire the eternal optimists but there’s very little I’ve seen from this team over the last month that makes me believe we’re getting anywhere close to the finals.

You can't trade it, it's frozen right away when you go over.
So with team like Milwaukee who have traded every pick until 2031 they will not be allowed to trade that pick at any point.

Teams will be hitting that 3 year deal in 2027 if they never get under. So if they do it's the 31 pick thats moved to the back?

You mostly have it. My understanding is that the rule doesn't take effect until next cap year, though, so the 2031 pick is in the clear, and the 2032 pick would be the first affected (for teams who are over the 2nd apron on the last day of the 2024-25 regular season).

If you're over the apron at the end of the regular season, the pick 7 years out is frozen (starting next year). If you're under the apron in the 24-25 season, you can trade that pick, but it hard caps you at the 2nd apron.

Just highlights the importance of Middleton's health and how putrid our bench has been this season.

That's the one aspect of the new rules that feels overtly harsh and also not really talked about. Getting a pick 4 or 5 years out locked into the back of the draft is pretty brutal.

Not trading Bobby and Pat ( especially with what Green showed last night) is going to hurt us this year.

And I think this is where Pat-Bev and a guy like Gallo if you can snag him will/would immensely help. Bench struggles have been equal parts offense and defense IMO (not sure if the stats back that up but that's what I see). Look back to those 2019 and 2020 teams where we were blowing teams out because even our bench was playing at a +4 pace with Giannis off the court.

It's not like we had some stacked roster of shot-creators and young, athletic 3&D wings. It was just a collection of smart, solid veteran dudes (re: OLD) like George Hill, Wes, Robin, Ersan, Korver, etc. You did have Donte and a younger version of Pat, but just getting smart role-players who can play team defense is so much more important to bench lineups than physical tools/athleticism.

Can we call him Pat Bev, or some other name we make up? We’ve already got a Pat, and have used the name extensively.

Yeah he might be old and slow but he can still create his own shot in the halfcourt. Otherwise Gabriel for some size on defense that still has young enough legs to be switchy. Can probably guard 3-5

I will say if somehow Bev brings a PJ Tucker like impact to the bench we do have a shot but with his recent shooting splits, if he doesn’t bring those intangibles…woof.

I'll even agree with people that say you want someone other than Beasley in the closing lineup of a tight game (Pat Bev is your insurance there), but I still don't get this obsession with wanting him banished from the starting lineup completely. We're straight-up blowing out teams with the Dame/Beas/Midds/Giannis/Brook starting-5 on the court. The numbers are the numbers.
