They’re going to need a new monitor, mainly just not sure on size- currently on a 24” and not sure on going to 27” or 32”, any thoughts either way? I could do with a new one myself so not too fussed in taking a risk with one size then deciding later it needs to change and I’ll just sit back on changing mine for a while and go with whatever.

How far away do they sit? I'm about 1.5-2 feet from dual-27" and I think I'm maxed-out on space and personal processing power (like...my own eyes). But with one monitor, I think 32" or even a little larger would be nice.

Good question! It’s a relatively shallow desk, so I’d guess maybe about 1.5-2 feet would be about right. They’re a keen gamer, but not a super hardcore one so I don’t expect it to be getting 8 hours a day of use (they have a laptop for general use) but I am mindful of eye strain from getting something too big (but don’t want to not get a really big one of that’s not really an issue!). I feel like going from 24 to 27 with much better graphics performance would probably just look amazing as an uplift anyway, but wonder if 32 would be even more amazing.

IMO, a single 32" monitor in that space would feel pretty luxurious. Maybe a little large, but I don't think in an overwhelming way. 27" is definitely a safe bet if you're unsure. 27" is still a surprising step-up from 24".

27" is the way to go. I have had 27, 32, 34, 49 ultrawide, and now a 42" 4k with 2 27" vertically on each side. I love my 42" 4k for work reasons, but the 27" monitors are honestly perfect. 32" is good too if it's just one monitor. But 2 27" (I had 3 27" side by side) is great.

There's a demo on Steam - the actual racing of this game rocks. I haven't played a Sonic Racing game in ages so I don't recall anything about it, but there seems to be more to it and more challenge than MK. Lots of fun.

The presentation and characters are not great. I wish this had the same polish Nintendo can provide. But yeah, if you can look past that, seems like a great time. Put it on my wishlist to keep an eye on sales.

I've read or watched a dozen FFT reviews today and have enjoyed every single one. I'm even coming around on the new localization "interpretation".

Mechanically, Final Fantasy Tactics remains timeless. It may not have been the first 'proper' Tactics-style game out there, but it remains one of the best. There's a simplicity to it that sequels and other franchises don't seem to understand, a Zen minimalism to the choice of units on offer and the actions they can take. Thanks to the quirks in the levelling system, you can completely break the game in the first four hours, if you want. Standing in a field and shouting and pelting stones at your mates for a few days, it turns out, gives you the strength to kill gods. But maybe that reflects the bond you form when travelling with your allies, bedding down in mountain passes with them, standing shoulder-to-shoulder in defiance of the state with brothers-in-arms?

This made me smile because, yea, it's probably how I'm gonna spend my first night playing through Tactician Mode.

Some of the most disgusting fights in the game are still here, intact. But that's fine, because you can either enter these encounters with honour and watch with revulsion as the enemy permanently destroys all your treasured weapons and armour, or go in with a cheap strategy that is so unbelievably crass, you cannot fathom how it was ever an option intended by the developers. But it was, and still is today. The wealth of options available to you at any time borders on the obscene - and it all comes from such a tight, well-considered little sandbox of options, it's almost unbelievable to see the flowchart come to life in front of you.

Haven't really been following either game, but I'm tentatively excited for Code Vein 2. I actually enjoyed the first a lot as a non-Soulslike person. I hope this one keeps that same good balance.

FFT getting absolutely rave reviews. Excited to finally play (again - but for the first time) on PC.

It really surprised me when it came out of nowhere to be awesome. I never finished it but I think I got 95% of the way there. Could definitely use a replay.

Master Ninja difficulty mostly looks like normal Ninja Gaiden Black difficulty. Whatever, can't wait to play it.

I mean, the graphics look pretty trash for a next-gen game lol. But I will absolutely be picking that up. Hell yeah.

I played Hades 2 for an hour last night and we are so back. Now I just need to finish my replay of 13 Sentinels before I fully dive in.

Liam McIntyre was such a good choice to play Logan.

Legitimately one of the games I wish I could experience again from the start. Absolute gem that should receive a lot more attention than it does (and that developer is actually pretty incredible in general).

Vanillaware is great, but they are so **** weird about what platforms they allow games to port to. Atlus basically said directly 'we want to put Unicorn Overlord on PC but Vanillaware won't let us.'

Yeah, it's an all-timer, and revisiting it has been a delight. One of the most impressive feats of storytelling in a videogame, and just one of my favorite pieces of media in general. I'd put it up with Book of the New Sun and Take Shelter in my media HOF.
