You have to pay Jabari if you want to keep him long term, Jabari has superstar potential, Snell is a role player....it is all about allocating your assets, in this case trying to build a championship team, they are already paying way too much money to bench players and need a second star.

Tony Snell making less than 10% of the salary cap isn't going to be the difference between keeping and losing Jabari.

Frankly, if Snell would just stop being the guy that has the most made shots right in his face and shoot a little bit more, no one would complain about him.

Based on the contracts handed out, his contract is fine, but him coming out this year and actually shooting less threes (almost an entire 3 attempt per 36) is kind of the opposite of what we needed.

I'd move him but I wouldn't dump him. Also he seems really well liked by the team and would be a really good asset if he can just hammer through the ceiling

Having cheap, productive players like Brown and Brogdon and underpaid players like Giannis and Midds is what can enable a team to be good AND pursue the addition of gamechanging talents. You say having cheap players allows you to spend 10m on a mediocre player; I say it allows you to bank 10m toward the chase of a great (or even good) player.

Snell is a stopgap type and we're treating him like the final piece of the puzzle. We keep making decisions as if we're terrified we're not going to be able to find another average player. Let them go and trust your personnel team. Average players are everywhere.

Ok, but don't tell me that trading away 25-30 minutes of quality 3&D wing play for 20-25 minutes of quality C play in Marcin Gortat or Dewayne Dedmon in anyway accomplishes this ultimate goal of investing that money in great players. It doesn't. You're just reallocating that money to older, similar caliber players and shuffling deck chairs.

So let's say Snell does have serious value as a 3 and D role player designed for the pace and space era.

What kind of trade would entice us for a package including Snell as a key piece?

Or do we need a wing on a fair locked in long term deal so badly that Brogdon or Bledsoe are more likely to be dealt?

What does the bolded even mean? What else is he supposed to do besides contest shots? Can't really fault him if guys are hitting shots with him in their face, which is where I think you were going with this.

I apologize if you meant something else.

Snell to OKC for Patterson and Terrance Ferguson is something I suggested a while back as the kind of return I'd seek if I felt that I had to trade Snell.

It is just more amazement than anything else, I've literally never seen a guy that gets scored on or shot over more than Snell. I guess I would like to see him get his hands up earlier or something, but make what you will of that, he is a magnet for getting scored over despite his length and good defensive positioning, I don't know how else to describe it, but once you see it, you'll know.

And yeah, I'm not really faulting him as much as I am shining light on the phenomenon .

I'm intrigued by how cheap the Bulls are letting MIrotic go for. Telly only has one year left and while no, the Bulls can't get a medical retirement, he'd offer about as much as Asik will for less cost.

So I'd do these two deals if possible:

Telly/Thon for Mirotic

DJ/Vaughn for Dedmon

We'd be in the luxury tax next year but think that team could make a run assuming Jabari fills the bench scoring role.

Let’s be real though, Mirotic isn’t a hugely valuable piece. I’m actually surprised they could get a first rounder for him.

Someone has to go at the deadline......This trade would make us so much better.

Bucks: Favors and Dedmon
Hawks: Maker and Vaughn
Jazz: Delly, Wilson and maybe a 2nd?

Pay Favors with Delly money
Pay Parker with Telly retirement

That's not entirely accurate, it's inflated because they were eating years of Asik's bad contract.

Giannis is untouchable, Khris and Malcolm are godfather offer guys, and everybody else is available in the pursuit of a top 30 player. All smart upgrades and flexibility gains entertained.

The Pelicans basically wanted him as an expiring contract though. Tells you something about his value when they'd rather veto the deal than take on his $12 mil team option for next season.

So basically unload all our trash/bust draft picks for the 2 best players in the trade? Hmm. Sounds fair.

Don't forget about the 2nd round pick.

Why would you pay Tony Snell three times more than you have too? I mean Reggie Bullock is only getting paid $2.5 million to do the same thing as Snell.

Tyreke Evans is getting paid $3.3 million to do WAY more than Snell.

Tony Snell averages 8 ppg and has a PER of 9.77. That's way below average.

I am still sticking to my Vaughn and a 2nd rd. for Willy H. or a 2nd rd. for KOQ.

Keep it simple, stupid.
