With more shots AJ could have too. Knicks also lost.

Didn't realize until now, but Chicago making zero moves at the deadline for the 3rd straight year is wild. I'm not even sure who's a worse run organization between them and Detroit at this point. At least Detroit has Cade, Duren, and another Top-4 draft pick incoming.

There was an entire offseason where I went sour because we didn’t hire that GM (I think he was an assistant on the bugs or jazz) and we landed on Horst. In retrospect, Horst is way better.

Re: Around the League
Somebody would pick PJ up for a vet minimum to close out this season and next season, right?
That's ~ $2 million per year if I understand correctly.
Is Tucker refusing to give that up in a buy out assuming he could make it back?
Or are the Clippers insisting he cough up more cash to get out?

Said no one ever.
The Knicks are good, but I will never call a team a contender if that team is lead by Julius Randle.
Knicks are still going to get smoked by Boston in a 7 game series and they still would have gotten get smoked by us if Dame hadn't turned into Monta Ellis on his flight from Portland to Milwaukee.

Knicks are the classic if everything breaks right for them contender. Miami was kind in that group last year but they also have some weird Miami black magic **** going on maybe a bad example.
Like they could make the finals or I guess even win it but it will take some luck and other teams cratoring.

Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming Wow! What a Ride!-H.S.T.

PJ has $11m this year and $12m next year. He is also a serviceable player for the Clippers when one or both PG and KL go down. If the Clippers buy him out, they eat his cap space. They can't use him as an expiring next year. They will be deep in the luxury tax so his $12m will be like $50m cash(I'm not positive on this but my understanding).
For it to make any sense from the Clippers end where they don't get totally screwed, PJ would have to give up like $12m(?). And even then I don't know why the Clippers would do it. He is more valuable as an expiring next year.

The Grant Williams thing was kind of funny to me since the guy on the outside looked like a total jackass of a teammate. Somehow Boston fans seemed to think he was a great teammate and that Tatum & the guys loved him. Like I'm a third party fan, maybe they are right........Fast forward - Boston makes no effort to retain him and he doesn't even last 2/3rds of the season in Dallas to the point they will give up assets to get rid of him.

Re: Around the League
Dallas lowkey killed it at the deadline. Biggesr roster weakness for them was in the front court and they added two legit pieces in Gafford & PJ Washingnton, kept all of Lively/Kleber/Powell, and got rid of scrub ass Grant Williams.
They’re like 10 deep, and now have a good stable of bigs to help defend/rebound and work the PnR/PnP with Kyrie/Luka. You never know when Kyrie gets hurt or goes crazy but if they have their full rotation come playoff time there’s really no excuse for Luka to not have that team as dangerous as anyone in the West outside peak Denver.

If the Clippers see a possibility where Tucker plays for them I'd agree.
PJ staying away from the team is different than him throwing such a fit he tanks the lockerroom. He can't pull that on this level of squad at this stage of his career.
But as a professional courtesy I'd imagine there is a reasonable number LAC would agree to way lower than $12 million.
I don't think they'd hold out only for the salary slot. There is some number between $2-12 million that they haven't come to an agreement on.
Plausible the Clippers think he'll suck it up and play in the playoffs if they need him to, so why not wait and see if they do want to trade his ending contract in the offseason. Hoping he gets bought out still in time for us to scoop him this season but might be moot.

I'm just not sure of that. The 2nd year makes it complicated. If it was a 1-year deal, sure cut him loose. But they could still trade him in the off-season and save a bunch I presume on the luxury tax. We are not talking about a sunk cost typical with a buyout candidate but real avoidable cash outflow. I'm unsure of the tax implications, but from my understanding you are talking about keeping a tax hit on the books this year and next year well into the 8-figures(?), which is waaaay beyond professional courtesy. I don't think there is a agreeable amount that makes sense for the clippers on a buy-out.
I think the main reason he is still a Clipper is cap restrictions on buying him out now / Teams having absolutely no interest in taking on that contract at the deadline.
A tax expert can correct me if I'm wrong. Has there been any discussion of an actual buy-out besides that Chris Haynes report? I think him "not requesting a buyout" is him realizing he would have to give up a crap ton for the Clippers to even consider it and his post is just him reacting to the Clippers position.
I only bring him up as a usable player because it is crazy a guy at PJs level/contract is demanding to be cut. It's like if Pat C pouted after some DNPs after he played like crap and wanted us to do him a professional favor and buy him out so he could play in PHX. Like, umm no, you are here on a multi-year contract that no one else will take. We tried our hardest at the deadline to trade you and didn't work.

Reports are Boston traded him because he was becoming a locker room cancer and Dallas found out the same thing quickly. When a team gives up picks to trade for a player then turns around and gives up more picks to trade the player away a few months later that should be a huge red flag.

It does suck that Donte would be the perfect SG for this team right now. Bummer.

Donte would be cool but at least Ibaka is averaging 13/7/1.3 on 59.5/44% shooting right now.

Re: Around the League
The Bucks have to have the worst drafting record in the NBA since they took Giannis. Brogdon was the only success story, right?
