LOL at KPJ being a pure point or anything remotely adjacent to that. KPJ is a dumb as a box of rocks, low IQ chucker. That's what he has always been his entire career going back to HS. And that's what he is now still. Us being in a beyond desperate position of having easily the worst guards in the entire NBA (and that's including KPJ) means we have no option but to take a chance on KPJ maybe figuring things out, but let's not get it twisted, there's a reason KPJ is not a coveted player around the NBA even beyond his off the court issues. He's never once in his entire life showed that he can play smart, team focused basketball with the goal of winning games.

I kinda agree that KPJr is a project at best, although I'm not that down on him.
His stint with us last year is his best ever in a team shooting wise with his TS% being 62%. His second best ever was in 2023 with the Rockets at 56%.
So it varies on which version of his will show up next season.
If we can get from him something like 15/5/5 on 45/37/85 and some respectable defense I'll consider it an absolute vicotry. Altough I'm perfectly honest in myslef, that he can also be a 20/3/3 player on 42/30/70 shooting...
Hopefully playing with Giannis will help him, as it seemed to do last year.

Here's a guy that didn't watch a single Bucks game last year.

I think porter is a true PG no doubt he couldnt average 8 assists a game
If Kevin Porter Jr, who is a career 4.6 assists guy, is a “true” point guard. The game of basketball might be on a downward trajectory
You do realize he's spent a bunch of his career playing SG right? What kind of assist totals do you expect from a SG?

He saved the second half of our season. He was awesome when he got minutes. I watched!

Especially on that disaster Rockets team he was on. Admittingly he was part of the problem but there was no leadership or thought put into that team

The Bucks primary ballhandler should not have high assist totals, because the offense should be running through Giannis.
KPJ is an awesome fit for that role because he can shoot the 3, defend, and rebound. The rebounding is an underrated importance, because we have so many non rebounding wings like Trent.

I'm really hoping Tyler Smith shows out in Summer League. I don't really believe in him, but I also think you should never bet against work ethic, and he has it.
The big reason I hope he turns into a player? It destroys the repeated myth that Donte was traded for Ibaka. This pick is the last of the 2nds we traded Donte for, and it needs to become something.

Maybe Beal is bought out? Maybe Middleton? Altough the good is debatable for him right now.
I'm guessing something like that but it could be also that a player will become available for trade...
I think most people probably wrote off Middleton as done when he got traded. But I share your view that its probably someone via trade. Scottie Barnes would make some sense as well. His numbers were down across the board and so I think its possible Toronto decides that he can be had for the right price. Although they may hold off on that to see how Ingram and Barnes play together. Atlanta is a team that has a glut of wings. You've got Daniels, Johnson, Alexander-Walker, Kennard and Risacher. To say nothing of Vit Krejci and Garrison Matthews who aren't as good as the others, but are NBA rotation players. And even if Daniels plays some backup PG and Risacher gets some minutes at PF, that's still a lot of guys to fit into those spots. If you've got 3-4 picks to offer, I wonder if Jalen Johnson is available.

Using assists to judge someone’s ability to play point guard in 2025?

What the team really thinks of KPJ (and whether that’s based in reality) is a major variable.
There’s a lot of fools gold the last 30 games of the regular season as this board learned during the Ramon Sessions era.
If KPJ is mostly a low IQ chucker with off court issues that’s a world of difference than if he becomes a floor general with size who can defend.

To talk about KPJ that way is wild. Being that he was apart of that death lineup that had the best and or the most efficient/effective lineup in the NBA with a minimum of 200 minutes or so(could someone pull that up btw?)
Wasn't that lineup...
KPJ
GTJ
AJG
BP
Giannis.....?
Either way....KPJ's middy game is elite, he is disruptive on defense and during that stretch when Dame was gone, I finally started to enjoy watching this team play on both sides of the ball again.

Is there a reason the Spurs don't seem to have interest in bringing CP3 back?
Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

RE Kuminga: the Bucks were linked to the Warriors recently (with caveat about interest level).
And the Kings offer included bad salary in Malik Monk going out (to Detroit per NBC Sports California) like we’d have to do with Kuzma.
However whether the Bucks would be committing to a low IQ 4 masquerading as a 3 is a big question especially if we do see KPJ as a long term piece.

The Golden State Warriors, according to league sources, have been searching for a promising young player plus a first-round pick in return for Kuminga, should they ultimately choose to part with him in a sign-and-trade scenario. They extended the $7.9 million qualifying offer to the 22-year-old wing and maintain the ability to match any contract he signs.
That gives them a level of leverage in a market devoid of significant cap space. They’ve drawn inbound calls in recent days, most notably from the Sacramento Kings, who floated an offer of Devin Carter, Dario Šarić and two second-round picks, league sources said. The Warriors have so far balked at what they felt was a buy-low attempt, league sources said.
The Washington Wizards entered the mix in the last 24 hours, and the idea of Kuminga as a possible fit in Washington’s rebuild has gained real momentum, according to league sources. (A Wizards source said the team has not expressed interest in Kuminga.) The Miami Heat, Chicago Bulls, Milwaukee Bucks and Brooklyn Nets have also registered varying levels of interest, league sources said.

The Warriors, Kings and Detroit Pistons are discussing a three-team blockbuster that would send Kuminga and veteran point guard Dennis Schröder to Sacramento in separate sign-and-trade deals, a source told NBC Sports California.
The trade discussions remain fluid.
Schröder, on Tuesday, reportedly agreed to a three-year, $45 million contract with the Kings.
The Kings, in turn, would send Monk to the Pistons, and second-year NBA guard Devin Carter and newly acquired big man Dario Šarić to the Warriors, the source said.
The Kings parting ways with Monk has been the most likely scenario this offseason, two sources told NBC Sports California.
General manager Mike Dunleavy had hoped to acquire players in a potential sign-and-trade for Kuminga, but in this scenario, the Warriors would add a future asset while clearing salary cap space.

I still have no idea why the Warriors would want Kuzma.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Yes Kuz would probably have to go elsewhere in a Kuminga scenario.
Kings were sending Monk to Detroit (who later snagged Duncan Robinson instead) is the comparison point.
