What do we think a serious CP3 offer from Philly would look like?

They have some draft assets they could attach to Horford or Tobias but those are still tough contracts to move.

Not questioning Philly's desperation mind you! Doc of course also has a longstanding connection to Paul.

Why would we possibly want Gordon Hayward?

If the Knicks are willing to deal a 1st for CP3 the Bucks might have to up our offer.

Donte is the main piece we could slot in in that case. It would hurt since we are so thin in the backcourt already, have so little youth team-wide, and Paul is injury prone.

I also don't think the Bucks would require the Knicks to send us a first round pick if we were able to entice them to absorb Bledsoe's salary so that we can seal a draft day deal with OKC rather than compete with them for Paul:

Bucks trade: Donte, #24, Bledsoe, Ersan, RoLo
Bucks receive: CP3

Knicks trade: Knox (or Frank or other salary filler)
Knicks receive: Bledsoe

Thunder trade: CP3
Thunder receive: Donte, #24, Knox, Ersan, RoLo

I guess I just don't see why Philly does it. Simmons' one strong suit is having the ball in his hands and you're going to take it away from and turn him into purely a slasher (and basically render him useless in the halfcourt).

I am intrigued to get Aaron Gordon from the Magic.

Maybe he is the perfect small ball 5 to match up against Bam and Ibaka.

What do you think about him and Giannis sharing the minutes at 5 ?

Not a fan of Aaron Gordon. There's nothing he does particularly well other than participating in the dunk contest.

I have yet to see someone post a worthwhile offer from another team that makes more sense to get Paul than the ones we've posted.

But OKC doesn’t have to do anything. They’ve got tons of picks, and Paul proved this year he can still move the needle, while depreciating off another year of that massive contract.

For them to make a deal now they need least two of the three below IMO.

Complete salary relief for his final contract year
A top 5-10 at worst draft pick (they’ve got too many draft picks already)
A really good young player (a lot better than Donte)

I’m not sure why this is difficult to understand.

You don’t trade 2nd team all nba players (even at 35) with two years left in their deal for minimal salary relief with bull **** players and the 24th pick in a **** draft.

Sorry to pop the bubble.

But what if that player is owed 85 million dollars during a pandemic where there will be no fans in attendance for atleast most of the first year and basketball related revenue has taken an absolutely massive hit?

Yeah, I'm not sure what kind of return people are thinking the Thunder are going to get for 35-year-old, close to retiring Chris Paul. No team in need of him is going to give up a top 5-10 pick and "really good young player" for the dude.

If you think the market for him is that hot, I've got a bridge for sale.

I think his rebounding athleticism and speed makes us a faster team and I am just tired to watch Brook Lopez slow feet again "guarding" the high pick n rolls by cementing himself in the paint. Can we get a mobile strong guy like Bam ?
I think Aaron can do some Bam things for us.

Rather go for Marcus Morris who is capable of playing the 5 (especially when we have Giannis to help him protect the rim), can guard multiple positions, and is one of the best 3 point shooters in the league.

OKC is losing Gallo and likely already looking at deals for Schroeder and Adams. That team isn't gonna make another playoff run after jettisoning their vets, so I'm not really buying this whole idea that Presti is fine stubbornly holding out for a borderline king's ransom with a guy who's still arguably a neutral-to-negative asset on his contract. He has just as much motivation to immediately deal Paul for as much value as he can get. The risk goes both ways.

Main problem with trading for Hayward is you have to give Boston a couple equivalent players to make it work. He's overpaid and our guys aren't.

Three way with the Knicks getting Bledsoe would work, but then we'd have to try to get a point guard elsewhere.

No interest in Hayward at that cap hit. He is being paid based on the player he was before his injury.

Hayward would be a nice add for the MLE next offseason. If Giannis is still on the roster I might add.

Yup. I said the same last week. I only including him in my earlier trade to help the Knicks save face, and he's young enough for OKC to roll the dice on. His value? A rebuilding team maybe gives a 2nd rounder to take a look.

Take him out of my earlier deal, and the Knicks then send #38 to OKC.

Bucks out: Bledsoe, Hill, RLopez, DJ Wilson, Ersan, future pick
Bucks in: CP3, Lou

LAC out: Lou, Mcgruder
LAC in: Bledsoe, Hill

OKC out: CP3
OKC in: Mcgruder, RLopez, Wilson, Ersan, future bucks pick

Clippers get former player in Bled back to run with PG/Kawhi and Hill has history playing well with PG. Bucks do good by them sending them to a team that is still competing.

Bucks get the playmaking guard in CP3 and adds a lethal bench scorer.

OKC gets mostly poop but clears cap now and next year and grab a future pick in the process for Paul.

Draft Tyrell Terry, give Mason some minutes in the regular season. See if we can get Gallo to join Paul here on the MLE.

CP3/Terry/Mason
Donte/Lou
Khris/Wes
Giannis/Gallo
Brook/??

Knox seems like he's a prime candidate to be on 5 or more teams by the end of his career. I'd take a shot on him because of age but he's a project.
