Pretty surprised on this one. Not sure it's feasible but would love him in Milwaukee

Coach Drew: "Milwaukee has always been a team that I have been intrigued by. When we played them, they were a tough team for us to play. Although we did beat them all four times"

I imagine he'll likely join The Ringer unless he has a no compete.
I think Jalen and Jacoby podcast was independent before ESPN brought them on so I’d assume they will keep rolling. TNT could dump Shaq and bring Jalen on board and be better but probably won’t happen.

Jalen & Jacoby was Grantland and then after that disbanded, ESPN brought them over to radio. And I believe Jacoby is with The Ringer again in some capacity. Maybe Rose is just ready to be done with all that, but the connections are obviously there.

I didn't catch Simmons pod so maybe he mentioned it here too but Russillo had a good point on his pod that anyone actually watching this is a hardcore basketball junkie so why cater to the normies. They aren't watching anyway.Ron Swanson wrote:paulpressey25 wrote:ESPN's talent is terrible. Bring on the housecleaning.
That draft show last week was horrible, starting with the producers and then on-air talent.
Bill Simmons absolutely crushed their on-air coverage during one of his recent pods. Made the point that they weren't even trying to appeal to actual basketball fans anymore. And he's 100% right. It was just a 4-hour long Hallmark commercial about these kids' families with the occasional, exploitive/intrusive camera zoom-in on their faces whenever they started crying. The whole thing was an incredible amount of cringe.

I guess all the best sports content is going to end up being podcasts and I hate podcasts. I’m old and irrelevant lol sigh

That was the best point made by any of the non-ESPN talking heads. It's not like all sorts of casual viewers tune in on a Thursday night for this. They aren't drawing audience away from The Masked Singer or something. Anyone watching that show is a hard core NBA fan.
They also discussed how there was zero substantive coverage of anything during the 2nd round. At least bring Andy Katz back or Givony to talk about these guys.

I watched and I honestly don't remember him being there. It felt like mostly Woj and Bobby Marks talking about trades and stuff and Jay Bilas/JJ Redick/a WNBA player (I think) breaking down the prospects. One of my favorite moments of the night was when everyone turned and looked at JJ for a breakdown of whoever had just gotten taken and he was like "I don't know what you're looking at me for...I've never seen this guy play."

They really miss Mike Schmitz, sounds like. Givony knows the guys but is awkward on screen.

Its not even like you need an expert. There are 50 possible draft picks. Just have like 3 talking heads be assigned 15 guys who they just need memorize 4 quick sentences on each of the guys and act like they've been watching them for years. It shouldn't be that hard.

Watford is interesting. 6'9, 240 lbs and showed that he could stretch the floor a bit albeit on very limited volume. Once a pretty highly rated recruit that just didn't live up to the hype in college. He could be a potential late-bloomer candidate in the right situation.

They wouldn't even need to memorize anything. Have some good scouting notes on the table in front of the supposed on-air talent. There aren't enough potential draftees for anyone to ever slip throughMartyConlonOnTheRun wrote:emunney wrote:machu46 wrote:

The problem is they don't have actual on air talent.
