yea he is a player that can do it all but from watching him he doesn't seem to be that aggressive like a Durant or LeBron would be. but he has the ability to do everything on the court. If he ever had a shot like Durant he would be very hard to guard.

I think we are really looking at a unique player here. Who in the past has the passing & ball handling skills that he does at 6'8"+? The list would seem to be fairly short:

1. Magic
2. McGrady
3. Diaw
4. Lebron
5. Kukoc
6. Batum
7. Bender

Anyone I am forgetting?

I think pre-injury Grant Hill might be a nice comparison for Giannis. That would be a nice ceiling.

Call down guys. Don't get your expectations too High. Lets just say that if he becomes a Better passing prince, or a better 3pt shooter AK its great for the position he was drafted.

Either one of those coming true would be a great player.

From what I've seen, he's going to struggle to get off a bunch of his stuff in the NBA, but I do like the foundation. He reminds me a bit of Batum and won't get carried away with the other names since he's going to struggle with NBA speed like all new players.

Let's hope he can defend like Batum as well.

I'll throw a couple over/unders out there...

Over/Under the games Giannis starts this season: 20 (approx. 25% of season)
Over/Under the minutes per game Giannis averages at the end of the season: 12/game

I guess it may be early since the SF position may change, but at the current depth chart I think over for minutes may be a lock and the starts could happen depending how the season goes, Giannis plays. Smart money is probably no.

Gonna go under for the starts, over for the minutes.

Lithuania vs. Turkey is coming up very soon. I'm going to watch this one, the toughest team Greece has played yet vs. their next opponent. Turkey has done fairly well in the tournament as well.

Thanks for the responses of my question. Can you see an other NBA prospects from that team?

The future looks bright for the Greek basketball, behind of them we have an other 2 great prospects, Vasileios Charalampopoulos, 6'8, 235 SF, 1997, and Georgios Papagiannis 7, 240 1997 who by some websites is considered one of the best if not the best international C of his generation.

From what I read if Turkey loses this game against Lithuania or to Greece, Greece will be #1 seed in E group and will play the #4 seed in F group. So they still could have 4 more games by Sunday which would be 9 in 12 days I think, Don't know why they didn't rest Yanni today.

To be honest I would say no. The NBA is a lot faster than European ball. Even Yanni is not a sure thing. I am not saying that the Greek players are bad or anything, but the NBA is where the worlds best players come to play. The odds are even low for the average player in the states.

We had to rest Larentzakis since he has some injury concerns...he is our best scorer

Outlet pass?

Swan Vox wrote:Can any of you folks who watch European ball tell me how Giannis compares to a young Kukoc? Tony was a legit point forward back in the day.

Kukoc played often as a SG in his early days before going to Chicago and bulking up. Giannis is not as good of a shooter or ball handler but it's a good comparison.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Hammond can draft like an SOB. If he was half as good at trades/constructing team we'd be top 3 seed like Indy.
We're going to turn this team around 360 degrees.

Giannis has logged 30+ mins just about every game as it is.

So Greece wouldn't have that same advantage if Turkey wins and they still beat Turkey tomorrow, CB?

Turkey is up 10 with 2 :30 left in the 2nd quarter. But when Greece faced Lithuania they had a 15+ lead early on before nearly giving the game away.
