There's likely also several people who got hired on their first interview or two yet ended up being trash coaches. Jason Kidd is probably one of them.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's a correlation to of some kind in there but I can't imagine its a very strong one.

This. Man, I bet Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd, Derek Fisher, and Steve Nash were destined to be great coaches. I mean, how could they not be? They got hired after ONE interview!

There's a difference between fooling one team and having half the league not believe in you. Just because one team believes in you doesn't mean you are a great hire, but if 14 seperate teams pass on you there is likely a reason

Aside from all the natural improvements that will happen when the big three gets healthy and griff starts to figure out some of the details, trading for a 2 guard who can play defense and yeeting Beasley into the sun is going to be a MASSIVE deal for us.

Theres just absolutely no way we dont move that Portland 2nd before the deadline and thats where im putting it.

Now: Who are the targets?

A PF/C who can move his feet. Bonus points if he can pass and/or shoot.

Thybulle and Caruso.

Both good but I got my eye on Herb Jones

That's not based on rebounding rate, it looks like it is total rebounds, so an awful shooting team will have more opportunities and more OREBs.

If you are giving other great teams more possessions, and you aren't out scoring them by a GSW 2017 level margin, you're going to lose. Lose. And lose again.

Yes, total OREBs and total pts. Of course more misses means more OREB opportunities, bur remember your original premise: getting outrebounded is no small thing and, by extension, correlates with losses. The numbers don't ask for reasons. OREBs don't correlate with wins, or only very slightly (r squared = 0.002, or practically no r at all). DREBs do carry a meaningful correlation, though.

I remember the college football coach (it was one of the biggies like Bear Bryant, but I can't remember which one) who, when challenged with the fact that the losing team outgained his winning team, said, "Well, we can play that game, too."

Hello -- you play to win the game, and whether or not you lose a particular statistical category is a side note only. If the Bucks can get to a place where they attain a sufficiently reliable halfcourt offense such that it results in wins, not checking every box in the box score will be of only passing interest.

I believe you proved his point, no?

Nuanced refutation or meek concession? That’s for you to judge.

I may be wrong, but i dont see Herb Jones or Caruso as realistic options. Unless the Pels go full rebuild, why would they trade Jones? I dont think they are there yet. But even if they are, like Caruso, we are very likely outbid unless some team really has a hard on for Bobby.

That leaves Thybulle. Obtained in the Josh Hart trade, they didnt seem to pay much for him. If you write Cam Reddish off as a lotto ticket they happily lost for nothing, the deal was two 2nds and Josh Hart for a 1st and Thybulle. I have to believe they would love to get their 2nd back.

I think whatever Pat is worth plus Portland 2nd is enough for Thybulle.

Whatever happened to the Bucks offering Sergio Scariolo a spot on the staff to help Griff coach the offense? Prunty must have used his charm on Griff to give him the reigns.

How much would Giannis making the choice to play more center minutes open things up for this team?
Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

Would love Caruso if Bulls are willing to deal. Hope they move on from Lavine quick, will start allowing pieces to move.

Also, Bones out of rotation? Maybe we take a flier if we can get him for cheap?

Truthfully, I don't think he has the BBIQ to make it work at the 5. Too much responsibility. He's really gotta work himself in at that position to extend his career.

Something like…

Bucks:
Tari Eason
Jonathan Isaac
Jeff Green

Houston:
Brook Lopez

Orlando:
Pat Connoughton
Victor Oladipo

Why would the Magic do that? Why wouldn’t the Rockets just take Isaac instead of Brook?

3 Minutes in, JJ says Tyrese is a bit RANDOM. Has a bit of RANDOMness to his game. A standout point, that he notices about him.
