How does trading Bobby to LAC get the Bucks a switchable big or wing? Does it also get them under the second apron?

See above. Still 2nd apron, the deal is actually 2 deals. We get both a switchable big and a switchable big wing.

Khris is not slow for a 4. Nobody handcuffed Doc and made him not do Giannis at 5, Khris at 4.

Even the Portis-Giannis-Khris-Dame lineups have posted really positive ret ratings. It's when the lineup includes Brook-Khris (at 3)-Dame when it really falls apart. Last year they had a great net rating though, so that could turnaround.

Khris-Dame-Giannis works on o cuz the Khris-Giannis 2-man game is insanely efficient & Khris is a mid-post slumpbuster when Dame can't hit from long range & Giannis to the hoop. Giannis' mid-range comes & goes cuz it's not 2nd nature like Khris'.

Giannis can guard Porzingis or TimeLord (Horford)
Can Khris guard Jaylen Brown ? .. Not in a million years.
Brown is close to prime Jimmy as a player. He will eat Khris alive with zero mercy. We can't hide Khris on Tatum either .... He will cook him till Khris becomes ash.
This has been our flaw for so many years. Even TimeLord sometimes cooks Giannis. Brook is worthless against em ... The most logical is to throw Portis on TimeLord and Giannis on Jaylen.
Wish we had Hartenstein ... who knew how an 18y old athletic German leftie with a high motor will turn to be a starter on a contender ?

Isnt Jones out indefinitely with a shoulder injury? Not sure this makes us better this year if he is out.

Oof. Missed this completely. Well nevermind.

If we are going to make any trades, can we at least make sure the trades are for dudes that have a history of being available to play? That’s really not too much to ask..

At this stage in the game there are no safe trades to make. If you’re looking to get better you kinda have to gamble on guys with some warts. That’s the inherent risk right now.

FanSpo has revamped its trade machine to adhere more to apron rules, including unlikely incentives, etc.

For example, Lopez for Cam Johnson worked straight up before-- but now it does not, since Cam has $4.5M in unlikely incentives that count as salary in a trade.

Khris has had no problem guarding Brown or Tatum.

I'd be surprised if the Bucks would lie that blatantly about a "family matter" if it wasn't true. But a lot of haters will be happy watching the game tonight.

There are some weird haters here but I believe most of us think he has some trade value and if he needs to be traded to improve the team then so be it. I haven't seen many trade proposals here that do that. I see many proposals that are a bit delusional though. We'll see what happens over the next 12 days.

I have no problem trading BP to make the team better and I agree there are those here who view him as an asset which can be used to fill some holes.

But there are more than a few haters who see very little positives in BP's game. Several have stated clearly that he is a net negative and shouldn't be in the rotation, which is insane.

If you trade BP, there will be a loss in bench scoring and rebounding that needs to be considered. A defensive minded switchable forward would be fine as long as he can fill in of the two holes BP's loss will cause.

Yeah, he’s worth the 1st. I think he can do more offensively than a lot of people realize. He’s not much of a shooter, but he’s a solid ball handler with decent vision and a capable athlete.

I’d do this in a heartbeat. The issue with Bobby isn’t talent, he’s a capable scorer, spaces the floor, and a good rebounder. The issue with Bobby is he is 100% opting out this offseason and getting at least the full MLE (he already took multiple discounts, he’s not going to again). It’s not that he’s not worth that, it’s that he’s not worth that to the Bucks when the best all around player on the planet plays the same position as him.

His main value to the Bucks was always stepping in when Giannis rests and getting a decent percentage of Giannis’ points and rebounds. But with the new CBA, it doesn’t make sense to pay him for that especially now that Dame is around to generate offense for himself and others when Giannis is out.

Getting under the second apron, trading a position of surplus (starting level PFs) for a need (starting level wing), and ditching Pat’s $9M next year is worth it.

The other positive is Herb would be far better suited for Giannis at center lineups than Bobby. Neither can protect the rim but Herb can at least allow you to go full switch while Bobby needs to be hidden in a zone.

Good points.

When healthy, he's an impact defender as both a rim protector and switchable. He's also an elite roll man. He's only available in our price because of his injury history. He fits into the Portis salary slot.

You do realize how rare those players are, right? It's not just our team. A significant portion of the league will be ineligible for postseason awards.

I don't know what Timelord has to do w/ this. He doesn't play for Boston. He plays for Portland. Some want to trade for him.

Can Khris guard Jaylen Brown? He doesn't have to, rather Tatum, who's more their 4, and not very quick. Khris can close out and stop his drives. He did well against Boston defensively his 1st game back from injury.

Put Giannis or some athletic big we trade for (Nance, Jalen Smith, etc.), Khris at the 4, & Khris matches up on d, rebounds sufficiently, creates the bigger match-up issues for most opponents, runs the o in the halfcourt; and he/we can cook.

I just worry Doc's too much of a fossil to gameplan for this & not fluid-minded enough to match-up on the fly. This is one of my biggest concerns for the playoffs, but a coach doesn't take away championship potential, just likelihood.

Making an old man laugh is always a good thing. Thanks.

There's no one on the Bucks I hate.

I can't hate Prince. He just shouldn't play so much and probably won't in the playoffs.
