Wasn't he shooting with his off hand for like half the season because of wrist surgery?

Because dudes that size shouldn't move like that and we're going to miss out on him by one pick.

look I know how most of this board loves embiid and I understand a lot of you feel hes the BPA,and I know im way in the minority but if im drafting 1 or 2 or 3 in the draft I want a stud who will give me 30 plus minutes a night a guy who will give me 18 points a game, not a guy who some of you on here have said he might only play 20 minutes a night his first year.
To me I don't want my top pick to be a part time player

Tim Duncan did not play 30 Mins/Game or or scoring 18/game and basically hasn't for 5 years, but I hear he is still a decent "part time" player.

I also don't know why 20 mins/game is bad for his 1st year. We would win rather than 27 than 23 games next year?

I'm pretty sure that was Conley. He was amazing shooting with his left hand.

Oden would of easily been the best center in the league by a good margin had he not succumb to injuries

well ur right I guess 20 minutes a game isn't bad but again I guess if I had my druthers I would love for my #1 to be a starter from the get go be in consideration for ROY and be improved enough where we would ( I know this is a bad word on this site but ) win.
Maybe im comparing the 1st and 2nd picks with the NFL to much

Conley is a natural lefty, Oden shot FT's left handed when he was hurt.

Last year the Bucks had Mike Conley in for an impressive predraft workout. "I can't believe this kid shoots the ball so well with his left hand,'' one of the attorneys said to Sen. Kohl.

"It's because he's left-handed,'' Harris said.
Amos Barshad: "So you got a job, a place to live, a license? What’s left?"

Giannis: “Nothing. Just get a ring now.”

Haha. Forgot about that. Makes sense now.

This assumption that we're much smarter than those dolts who picked Oden, or the Kandi Man, or Sam Bowie is what bothers me about the easy dismissal of potential problems with Embiid. Oden, the gimp from birth, was a consensus 1 or 2, and concerns about his health were not a major part of the discussion. Olowokandi, the basketball prodigy, went #1 despite having played organized basketball for only three years but dazzled the basketball world with his moves and his potential. Sam Bowie went #2 in the draft Jordan went #3. Hakeem went #1, though, and he did OK.

When we look at Embiid, which do we see—Hakeem, or the Kandi Man, or Oden, or Bowie? If you think you know, think again, and be prepared for the possibility that the team that picks him will have to endure the same sort of jibes you're throwing Portland's way for picking Oden.

Actually, it came out later that Conley was indeed right handed. He's just developed his left so well that in his mind it surpassed his right. I never could do much with my left hand in basketball, but in soccer I was similar to Conley in that I started to shoot and dribble more with my left (foot) out of development. So it wasn't unworthy of note when someone remarked on how well I played with my "left/off" foot.

What Walter, or whichever crony that was, said, wasn't that incompetent, as much as I we like to use that example as a microcosm of the era's dysfunction. There are a lot better ones, like the Bogut suit, Yi chair, Curry non-trade, Tobias debacle, etc.

Don't give up hope -- if there were one team who might choose not to take him it'd be the Cavs.

I'm hoping to hear about Kyrie Irving being boys with Parker or Wiggins and telling Cleveland that he might be more likely to extend with them if they pick up his friend.

Then they all can commence on an all out assault on the 8th seed together, while the Bucks commit a few developmental years to Embiid + Giannis + next year's (much better than it would be otherwise) draft pick.

Youre' Hammond...you know Wiggins is going 1st. CLE has outright told you so. You find out that, if you take Embiid, the Sixers will definitely take Parker #3. The Magic call you up and offer you Tobias and #4 for the #2 as they want Embiid. Would you do it?

How about 2, 31, 36 for 4, 12 and Tobes?

Nope. Embiid has much better footwork, ball handling, jump shooting, and post moves. Oden was really good at dunking basketballs and not much else (ala Drummond). Oden on the other hand could have been one of the best defensive centers ever while Embiid should still be pretty damn good.
