I hear/use it occasionally when applicable (hangovers), and it seems like an appropriate word for the point he wanted to make. I just don't know how you misspeak and blurt out "thugs" instead.

The national media is so **** desperate for Philly to be a contender after they all crowned that team in preseason.

Sick of the Sixer knob polishing.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I use the word "sluggish" all the time.

With how well this guy has been regarded his whole career it's hard to believe he had any malicious intent but of course I don't know the guy at all.

I sincerely don't think he had any malicious intent, but it's such a serious gaffe that I can't really expect players to just let it slide. If they do and hash this out - great.

The whole "build for the playoffs" thing reminds me of last years Celtics, when despite the overwhelming evidence during the rs that they are not that good everyone was going with it because reasons.

Whether he actually meant to or not is really irrelevant - the problem with racism is it's so embedded in our lives that we don't realize when it's there. I'll give him credit and assume that he genuinely doesn't actively believe black people are thugs, but much like Brian Davis saying Russell Westbrook was "out of his cotton-picking mind" or Danny Ferry saying Luol Deng had "a little bit of Africa in him", these saying may seem innocuous to someone saying them, but they actively hurt people who have a life experience of oppression and racism.

All that being said, John Beilein is probably a stand up guy. He seemed like a really good college coach. But he probably doesn't have what it takes to coach in the NBA and it'll be interesting to see if Cleveland is willing to stick with him past this season (when I'm assuming Altman will be shown the door).

For sure. Also of note, is Beilein calling his players thugs would have actually been complimentary towards how they’ve actually played this season. Thug in basketball aside from racial connotations insinuates that the players are very aggressive and overly physical when playing, 2 things exactly opposite of what Cleveland has been. Not to justify calling players thugs, just funny more than anything else.

Have the Cavs ever said why they thought hiring a 70 year old coach was a good idea?

They also drafted and start garland and sexton at guard with the intention of it actually being a legitimate thing. They have a homeless version of Jennings/Ellis as the upside of what their backcourt could become and people want to act like coaching is the problem with that team?

I guess I assumed at the time of hire that with it being a rebuild situation and a bunch of younger guys that maybe having a college coach who is used to developing and working with kids of this age would be a different route to try. If people really thought that team could win this year they were delusional. To fire him for not winnings seems crazy as everyone going into this should've know they had no chance this year. But, if there is just clear issues just with not getting along with the team, being new to the NBA nad not getting it, or whatever else well then so be it. But if it's for 'not winning' they're nuts.

We should rank the bottom five NBA owners. Dan Gilbert is right in there. If LeBron doesn’t love his hometown, and return in 2014, that team would have kept circling the drain at 22-30 wins.

Anyone know what a realistic time frame is for recovery on something like this? I want bucks to play every team at full strength, injuries suck.

I'd think it starts with Dolan, then Gilbert, then a huge gap to #3.

Don’t forget Vivek. See no gap there. 8-)

ETA Glenn Taylor and Sarver with Phoenix night round out the top five.

Rough, can't believe he came back into the game after that. We need a Jez signal for these moments.

Not really liking the Sixers potentially ending up as 4th or 5th seed, but this could open a window for them to land 6th.

Joel. The key to healing a hand injury is ice cream. Lots of ice cream.

I think Sarver and Dolan are probably the worst. Gilbert and Vivek seem like they actually want to win, but are just horrible at it. Dolan is a parasite, but Sarver seems like an actual scumbag owner. The goat **** in McDonogh office comes to mind and I think "wow, that guy would be literally the worst boss to work for."

That's like naming the top-5 NBA team from the 90's. What's the point of including the other 4?

In the comments they are saying 6-12 weeks depending on the damage.

Michael Jordan has to be on the shortlist of worst NBA owners. He's owned the Hornets for a decade+, consistently in the lotto, with nothing to show for it.

It's Dolan, Gilbert, Ranadive, Benson, and Jordan in my bottom 5. Sarver, Taylor, Leonsis, and the Buss family are on the outside looking in.
