For me, it all starts and stops with the Don Pastor Taco Truck. I’m really just looking for recommendations.

If you have to go as far as New Berlin or Saint Francis, that’s fine. I can send my girlfriend there to pick it up.

ReginaldDwight wrote:Best Burger might be St. Bibiana on Brady, someone here recommended it last year and Ive been twice and both times it was great. Best Restaurant is still Odd Duck for me. Its not as amazing as its prime but its still really really good. Tacos I like truck near the autozone on like 19th st La Flamita.

Easily

mattg wrote:If you like smash burgers then Archie's Flat Top in West Allis is absolutely excellent. Floored by the mentions of Kopps for best burger, honestly that just says that people haven't had that many good burgers in the Milwaukee area because Kopps at their absolute best, is still just a good fast food burger that's portioned large. Kopps is like a fringe top 10 burger that you could get at their best case scenario.

humanrefutation wrote:I haven't lived in Milwaukee for a decade, but much of my family does, so I'm back multiple times a month. I may be moving back in a few months if the stars align, so I'll be monitoring this thread for suggestions.

My current list:
Oakland Gyros is my favorite Milwaukee fast casual, period.
Amana Foods has really good falafel.
Pita Palace has good shawarma.
Al-Yousef has great grilled kabobs and chicken.
Leon's for Frozen Custard.
La Merenda for great tapas.
Botanas has really good Mexican.
Burgers has been a debate - Kopps, Sobelmans, Oscar's. And they're all good. But Culver's is so good and readily accessible everywhere, so I end up defaulting there more often than not.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Burgers: Layman Brewery might be the best smash burger in town, plus their fries are great. Beers are solid although they do a lot of low ABV stuff.

Camino also has really great burgers and only $5 on Mondays.

Shawarma/Middle eastern takeout: https://holylandgroceryanddeli.com/restaurant/

Dine in: Lebnani House

La Merenda has fallen off a bit for me, menu has become somewhat stale.

Ardent was my favorite restaurant in MKE but it’s closing.

Always love eating at Morel.

Looking forward to trying Roomservice in the near future.

Oh, and I’ll still take a Kopps burger over any other burger I’ve had.

Ardent was awful when I went, I have been to multiple starred fine dining spots worldwide and Ardent was easily the worst meal ive had paying that much money. Glad to hear its closing too cause I heard the Chef/Owner there was a weirdo. Merenda was average the last few times I went, always left wishing I was just leaving Odd Duck instead.
Edit for tasting menu I really liked Birch downtown, felt like fairly priced and while it wasnt anything every dish was really well executed and tasty.

Kopps is average, Go to Oscars on Pierce instead for a similar price youll have a better burger. Now if we are talking Kopps custard then its the best in the city for me, Glendale or Greenfield locations only.

Lotta suggestions, no brats or cheese curds mentioned. Really starting to question some of the WI credentials around here.

For Middle Eastern I like AL-Yousef on like 20th and college or something.

Most places use the same curds and the best brats are at someones crib par boiled in beer then grilled with some brown mustard and maybe Kraut on top

Hard to beat doing your own brats on the grill. I don't know if I've ever had one in a restaurant.

Kopps opinions are all over the place. Personally I'm not a fan.

Don't forget to salt the beer, otherwise you'll end up with a crappy brat.

I usually salt and add some peppercorns to the beer, ive added other spices before also but found the juice wasnt worth the squeeze on that front.

What's everyone's favorite pizza in Milwaukee? In Madison, it's Salvatore's or Lucille. I haven't had non-chain pizza in Milwaukee in years. Probably Ned's on 27th and Oklahoma was my last non-chain spot there, and it wasn't as good as I remembered as a kid.

Agreed with those too. Flour girl and flame was also great when I've had it at a few street markets. They've got a cool towable wood stove.

The Santa Ana winds are whipping out here. Some gusts feel hurricane level. Embers flying everywhere. This is going to get a lot worse before it gets better. Already lost power once.

I **** hate fire. Hopefully you aren't too close. If you are questioning whether to stay or go, and you have somewhere to go, then leave. Stay safe mate.

I went to Rajni's in Middleton tonight to check them out after hearing some rave reviews. Despite my general antipathy towards Butter Chicken (in my experience, most places tend to heavily underseason it to cater to, um, a certain kind of customer), a couple people I trust encouraged me to give it a shot. So I ordered it. Extra spicy, of course.

I'm in heaven. Legitimately one of the tastiest things I've ever had.
