Jimmy killed Coach Bud's and Jrue's career with the Bucks. Had no answer for Playoff Jimmy.

If the bucks have to do midds/ portis/ ? for butler then i think its definitely the best package.Good thing is if bucks trade for butler n ge bolts did the bucks just save 49 million on the cap n that isnt counting lopez either

I'd rather try to talk with Memphis since they are in the market for forwards and have/are striking out to make deals with Miami and Brooklyn. Maybe Khris for Smart, LaRavia, and Aldama with Detroit taking Konchar. Khris surrounding by athletes that can move their feet could work. LaRavia and Aldama didn't get extended but have stepped up but are they playoff ready? I think the Bucks has the veteran core they need and the vets need their energy and effort. If Doc is wise, he would sit Smart right beside Pat and Delon.

I don't think him saying whether or not he'll sign an extension really impacts what teams will give up for him at all. You know exactly what you're signing up for with Jimmy at this point. The return is gonna be a lot closer to the CP3 Suns/OKC trade than people think (basically, salary filler vets and a single 1st round pick).

Bobby Marks just mentioned us on NBA Today as a Butler destination.

He basically laid out exactly what we’ve been saying.

Khris/Bobby to Miami

Pat to Detroit to open cap space

Since we already have GA and DL at their pay, that's the most we could offer Butler for an extension?

Under the assumption KOC's report was wrong & this is still a possibility, the Bucks would clear enough cap space next year to sign a borderline core player. They wouldn't have enough for 3 maxes. Though it's bad to allocate your salary to that.

The plausible options would be: Myles Turner, Brandon Ingram, Naz Reid? It's not a long list. Otherwise the Bucks could add just a few role players of Kelly Oubre's ilk. One of them could be just re-upping Gary Trent. It would re-shape the roster.

I was also under the assumption we'd have to include the '31 1st. If we didn't, I might be OK w/ it, between the cap space/flexibility, & this assuring we'd be under the 2nd apron so we keep another early 2030's 1st rounder.

Actually there is a Beal trade I would be interested..

Bucks in Beal, Dunn, Ighodaro, PHX 2031 FRP
Bucks out Middleton, Portis, Connaughton, Beauchamp, Wright, 2031 SRP

Phoenix in Butler, Wright
Phoenix out Beal, Dunn, Ighodaro, 2031 FRP

Miami in Middleton, Portis, Beauchamp
Miami out Butler

Detroit in Connaughton, MIL 2031 SRP
Detroit out nada

- That leaves Bucks 425k under the 2nd apron to convert Rollins at some point into a standard (long term) contract and fill the 14th spot.

Lillard......Green.......Johnson
Beal.........Trent........Rollins
Dunn........Jackson
Giannis.....Prince.......Livingston
Lopez.......Ighodaro....Smith

Who can realistically beat that offer from the teams Beal is willing to waive is NTC for? He said Lakers, Nuggets and Heat…. Lakers make the most sense from Beals perspective because they’re likely the only team dumb enough to eat that contract for the sake of Lebrons approval… what does Miami want from them that’s gonna keep them competitive and not be more than maximum 1.5yrs? Miamis options out of this look like Michael Porter Jr, Brad Beal, Rui/Gabe Vincent/Jared Vanderbilt..

Pat Riley has never struck me as a “take the bait” type of guy.. he held strong on the Dame front and called Portlands bluff that he could get Dame at his price and never strayed from it even at the sake of eventually being on the opposite side of what happened. No way he’s gonna eat this media narrative that Phoenix and Butler are gonna control how this plays out…

Probably comes down to whether or not Pat is okay trading a motivated Jimmy to a team standing in front of him in the standings. We’re 5, Miami is 6 so it would be a pretty bold move for both teams. Bucks break the chemistry, Miami might’ve just traded for 2 non needle movers.

Butler could end up here and KOC could still be right. I think people forget how fluid these things are. Butler could be dead set on PHX and PHX straight up tells him he isn't getting an extension unless they can move Beal. After Butler realizes that's not a realistic option, he back tracks and playing for a contender with Dame Giannis and Bro Lo doesn't seem as bad. Too many times we dunk on a "report being wrong" when it was accurate at the time.

He mention whether or not Jimmy is trying to stop it?

And did he mention us sending the 2031 first or not that nuanced?

Looking around for the clip if anyone sees.

Regardless of what happens here, I'm gonna bask in the karmic justice of this whole situation. 16-months ago, the South Beach media ecosystem and Heat fans were the physical embodiment of the fedora guy meme flooding NBA twitter with how it was only a matter of time before the Blazers humbly accepted their polished turd assets for Dame. Now, they get to agonize over which low-ball offer to choose for their star player as the rest of us laugh at the irony. R.I.P. hEaT cULtUrE

Bobby Marks on NBA Today said to “keep on eye on Milwaukee” as a Butler destination.

Well done. I’d do this deal. Only issue is Detroit is the key to everything. Do they take Pat simply for a 2031 2nd.

Found it — Bobby Marks comes on at 5:15 and says “I would keep an eye on Milwaukee…when you know their GM Jon Horst, 28 trades since they’ve hired him (wow says a co-host)”, but also mentioning how few firsts we have as a challenge:

There has to be ulterior motive behind Butlers infatuation with Phoenix. I just can’t fathom Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Mike Budenholzer being that big of a draw to someone. It makes no sense. Butler loves a coach he demoralized in the playoffs 2 years ago? And Mr Bust your ass Butler is hell bent on playing a long side Devin Booker, arguably 1 of the laziest defenders in the league and someone that was benched in the finals for lack of effort? Come on now, I need to understand this and none of this math is adding up…

Windhorst said it earlier. Phoenix is willing to give him a big extension.

So I guess the “I can make any team a contender” was just posturing for “show me the money”?

Easy, they're the only team that said they'd give him the extension. These guys' agents are just doing the bidding of their clients. I have no doubt that Jimmy doesn't care about all the cap logistics and hurdles required to get him to Phoenix, nor are most of these players familiar with the CBA.
