So my promotional rate on internet has expired and TW changed my rate from 53 dollars to 66. So I called to see what can be done to get the cost down a little bit and to ask how I could get access to all the online content that's blocked to me such as watch ESPN and other things since I didn't have a cable subscription but still had a TW login and password.

They now say with whatever they did to my account that I should have access tomorrow to watch espn and things like that, so my question is will I have access to watch bucks games live legally through FSN's website?

Is TWC a bitch to cancel services with? I have my own modem but am thinking of ditching their internet. I'm paying about $50 for their real basic (like 2 MBPS) and I can bundle AT&T U-Verse with my DirecTV for much less cost/faster internet (even after the promo rate is done).

Does anyone that uses AT&T U-verse know if you can you use your own modem and/or router? I have my own new Motorola modem already. I probably should upgrade my router. Still have the old Linksys from like 2007 but its been reliable.

My AT&T just jumped from $120 to $190 and they claim they can't do any better for the services I have so I'm going to finally ditch cable. Probably just going to sign up for Hulu and Sling. Already have a student Amazon Prime account. Netflix's content doesn't interest me, I'll just torrent any of the older stuff if I want it. Still debating on getting a Roku(s), 2 of my 4 tvs are Smart tvs while the other 2 have the kids consoles on them so I don't know if i'll need them. Sports will be an issue but i'll find some workarounds. Cable companies can go to hell.

I did this a few months ago and haven't looked back. We already had netflix. I added sling, and that has been worth it, especially regarding sports. I watch fewer Bucks games, but was able to pull in most of the Packers games via antenna. Brewers won't be worth watching this summer. I'll probably look into "other options" for bucks games before next season via the vpn route. I have a roku, and the pbs offerings via roku are often the choice in our household.

Do a trial with Sling before you pay for it. I had a poor experience with it during my trial and didn't consider picking it up when the trial ended. More often than not, streams just wouldn't load.

Free trial for sling is a good idea. We haven't had any problem with sling via roku, but did have some off and on problems with sling via xbox.

I read about that but it seemed like the general consensus was due to below average Internet speeds, was that an issue you had?

No, I have a 50Mb connection. Never have issues with Netflix, HBO Now, Amazon Prime, etc. But Sling just didn't load at all on multiple occasions.

Sling has gotten better and better. Right out of the gate it had it's bugs, none too serious, but it had bugs. They seem to make updates every few months currently. The guide/channel selection method has changed a few time since it first came out. I almost never have connection/quality issues. Honestly, I can't endorse Sling enough. A very good product, especially when you consider there is no contract required.

Hmm, I'll have to read a bit more then. I know Sling just had some "major" changes for the XBOX app, I'll try to check it out today.

And for the record I use Sling on a Roku 3 and 2. I don't game so have never tried it on a console. Can't remember if I've tried it on a laptop or not, but guessing it's not as good of an experience as the Roku either way.

I setup free trials of Sling and Hulu through my XBOX One, they both look great. There have been a few times where the picture breaks up but it comes back right away. I also saw that the XB1 is going to be getting DVR functionality later this year (with an additional external HD and a USB antenna) so that will be cool.

Question for the other cord cutters, did you buy your own modem/router or do you just use the ones you get stock from your ISP? I've read it's better to buy and use your own, performance wise, but that's an additional up front cost.

We switched to AT&T internet since it was half the price of TWC for 6x the speed with DirecTV. So far it's been okay. It kinda sucks you can't buy your own modem/router with them, especially since I just bought a new modem last summer. But that paid for itself already.

I have been on 2nd trial with Sling using both chromecast and Amazon firestick (50Mb connection). The chromecast experience has been horrible, constant pause and rebuffer. Firestick has been a much better experience. It does seem to chew up a lot of bandwidth. I think any of the dedicated sling apps tend to outperform the "casting" approach. Had choppiness issues when airplaying via Apple TV as well.

So I'm going on my 2nd week without cable and I don't miss it one bit. In fact, I think once my 3 months is up with Sling (I signed up for three months to get the free Roku for the kids room), I might not even renew that. I mainly use my XBOX One for Sling then download/stream everything else. I have a program called Universal Media Server running on my PC at all times which allows me to make a personal cloud for my house in which any TV, computer, tablet or phone can access whatever shows/movies I put on there. I find Universal Media Server easier to use than just a regular home network since I have Apple and PC products. I haven't had one problem getting anything that I want to watch, including live sports. I actually kind of feel overwhelmed with all the shows I have on deck waiting to be watched. I pay about $65 for internet then another $25 for Sling. Amazon Prime I get anyway for school books so I don't really factor that into my monthly tv bill along with the WWE Network which I would have even with cable. So $90/month is a hell of a lot better better than the almost $200 it was just last month. I'm pretty happy. I think my only complaint was having to order a 5tb external hd since I almost filled up my 1tb slave already.

i'm sure this has been answered already, but can you watch the bucks in milwaukee with NBA league pass by itself?

or like if they don't let you watch "bucks games" can you watch like the lakers game if they're playing the bucks? think i'm finally going to be cutting the cord this summer with a combo of streaming services, but not being able to watch the bucks would be a deal breaker.

also, anyone have any experience with fubotv or foxsoccer2go?

Long story short, I cut the cord maybe a month ago and picked up a Mohu Leaf antenna to pick up some network channels. It had been working well enough until yesterday when I stopped getting any kind of signal. Tried again this morning, same thing, no channels coming in at all. I can't seem to find anything obviously wrong with it or with the connection. Why would it just stop working after a month? Any thoughts or suggestions?

I think for the moment we're still screwed. League Pass always checks where your IP address is coming from and blacks you out if in the Bucks/Wisconsin viewing radius.

I know there are workarounds to the IP thing but I haven't found them worth the time and issues involved at this point.
