Peak rockabilly/glam rock Moz crossover- loved it back in the day, but was a pretty obsessed fan and I always wonder if the solo albums were really as good as I remember them being (and this one, at least, is).

Not to dump on your musical likes, but Morrissey's voice has always creeped me out. Sounds to much like Robert Smith of the Cure, who is probably my all time most hated band. I'd rather be water-boarded multiple times than locked in a room and forced to listen to a whole Cure album/CD.

Part of it i guess is that i just never got into that artsy/college "alternative" pop which got pretty big in the 80's and early 90's. Everyone from the Smiths, Depeche Mode, the Cure, New Order, Human League, Public Image Ltd, Tears For Fears, ETC.

There was this semi-universal ummm whiny-ness to their voices which turned me off big time. Even many college rock/pop bands of today has singers with that same voice inflection which grates on my ears and nerves.

One of my favorite bands from that 80's early 90s genre of music though is Bauhaus, mainly their really dark sounding stuff..

My kid turned me on to this guy, like a number of his songs now.

So much music here I've never heard of! The video here above sounds pretty good. Might have to check more out.

I've been listening to a lot of Sturgill Simpson/Chris Stapleton lately. Also going back on some Waylon/Cash/Hank/Hendrix/Mumford

I've been quite bored with the mainstream music and as I age I'm growing away from the synthesized made for radio bs. I'll have to stroll through here and see if I find anything that catches my eyes or more important my ears.

This new song is not a huge departure from their last 2 albums. But I **** love those...so I'm cool with that.

My favorite I'd say is

Also, Young Blood and Girls Like You are obvious favorites.

Well ****. I'm in. I have had a tenuous relationship seeing them live. Got delayed getting into Lollapalooza like 5 years ago and only saw half of the shortened show and had to ditch them at First Ave a few years ago because the entire group I was with ended up wanting to go to/stay at Zombie Pub Crawl. I'm even familiar with XYLO.

Want to go, but I'm old and probably wouldn't make the drive over for a mid-week show. I am seeing Thrice on a Friday night over there in a couple months and I can't freaking wait.

Broken Social Scene played their first US show in over 5 years, are working on their first album in over 6 years, and we've confirmed God exists.

Look at this glorious set list:

I’m Still Your ****
Ibi Dreams of Pavement (A Better Day)
Texico Bitches
Cause = Time
7/4 (Shoreline)
Book It to Fresno (Brendan Canning Solo Song)
Forced to Love
Sweetest Kill
Gonna Get Better (with Ariel Engle) (New song, as named on the setlist)
Late Nineties Bedroom Rock for the Missionaries
Shampoo Suicide
Handjobs for the Holidays
Anthems for a Seventeen Year-Old Girl (with Amy Millan)
KC Accidental
Superconnected
Major Label Debut (fast)

MikeIsGood wrote:Music for the year has picked up over the past couple months. Disappointment from some anticipated released still lingers (M83, among others), but my playlist of new music has slowly expanded. Been listening to:

Local Natives - Past Lives
Rogue Wave - California Bride
Bob Moses - Tearing Me Up
Baio - The Names
Tame Impala - Less I Know The Better
Sleepwalkers - Run Right Back

Local Natives played a secret rooftop show right next to my apartment last week. Turns out it is there old recording studio. It was amazing.

Don't seem to be able to get a spotify url to work as a link, but cut and paste that in a browser and it should open up.

The soundtrack for Flaked is pretty wonderful.

There is an obnoxious obsession with Frank Ocean on my Facebook timeline that made me want to slap the world. The hype around the release of his album was a bit absurd, IMO.

I just listened to the album, and it's aight. But it's not life-changing in the way a lot of people act like it is.
