Awful. The number of doctors who turned them away infuriates me, as well as the insurance companies attempts to deny their claims. It's a reminder that while doctors can be brilliant and compassionate and well-reasoned, patients and their families still need to self-advocate for care and treatment.

Agreed. I like to believe that doctors perform their work with genuine intentions. But it's also imperative that when in need of help, a person is concise and persistent.

I very regularly have discussions with my patients about what I'd call here (but not to them) the 'arrogance of knowledge'.

We (medical profession) have so many tests and scans that we think we can always give answers. So people get told 'nothing is wrong' or 'it's all clear'.

This arrogance is the assumption we know everything there is to know in medicine, which we don't. We rely too much on scans and are scared of litigation.

I always encourage people to keep questioning us as medical providers, to explain our thinking. But too often people don't, as they trust their medical providers, who themselves are generally time poor.

It looks like Weltman got the gig. I assume that means Hammond stays unless he takes some advisor role there, but think he would just stick that out here unless ownership forces him out.

Nice for Weltman. It is funny how a few of the new hires come from organizations that were recent trade partners with their new organization. Hennigan was a sinking ship for a few years.

I find this pretty interesting. Did Orlando contact Hammond because his name was on Weltman's list of references?

Weltman got POBO, and they haven't established a GM. Hammond is in the final year of his contract and it's supposedly part of a transition to Zanik. Does Hammond go to Orlando and take his scouts with him?

This offseason is as strange as when the owners hired Kidd behind Hammonds back. They need to come out and say who the hell the GM is going to be going forward and let that person make a decision on Kidd, etc. Feels like a rudderless ship while back room deals are being made or something. I still think Troy Weaver would be an excellent hire at GM and Amanda Green as his assistant.

I'm also curious about Zanik. There was an article posted awhile ago that said his spouse and children are suffering from a myriad of undiagnosable health problems. That's kind of weird, but also, is he going to be, I don't know, 100% available? Also, how much experience does he have in talent evaluation? I know he was with the Jazz briefly, but what else? Is he someone that can think in multiple probabilistic outcomes?

We should know pretty soon after the draft if Hammond is staying another year or not. If he's planning to move on/retire he should have no input into the draft. When Grunfeld wanted to go to Washington Kohl made him wait until after the draft and Harris made the Ford pick and was officially named GM about a week later.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I never really thought about that until you brought it up, but that's a good point. I'd like to think the GM will be plenty busy with the team but if he has to be with his family more, will that hinder the Bucks? I hate to think of it that way, but he should definitely be putting family first and I wouldn't want the job to get in the way of that.

I wonder what is going on with him and this job. His family finally found some help at Children's Hospital in Tosa and his wife is from the area. Was there some mutual interest from both sides? Interesting to find out how this hiring actually went down.

Off season isn't strange at all...Hammond and Kidd both under contract to be with the Milwaukee Bucks next season, we as an organization don't address wild innuendo or rumor.....there is your statement and quite frankly if you know even a little about business they really don't even have to say that much.

Remember when Scott Skiles cleaned out his office expecting to be fired at the end of the season before the final year in his contract?

There's still time for extensions before it gets weird, but it's getting closer.
