If (and ONLY IF) you've seen season one of The Good Place, here's the cast's reaction to THAT THING when they first heard it pitched. It's really great.

Eh, I'm not really a movie buff. It's only over the last couple years that I've made a point to watch everything notable. But these lists are gonna be useful. Lots to go back and check out.

I've never seen either but I've heard from many people that the director's cut is a vast improvement.

My 10 favorite movies of the 2010s so far:
The Social Network
Manchester By the Sea
The Tree of Life
Drive
Mad Max: Fury Road
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Inside Llewyn Davis
Nightcrawler
Birdman
Les Miserables
If going back 10 years instead of just since 2010, I'd have to make room for these movies:
The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford
There Will Be Blood
No Country For Old Men
Wall•E
The Fantastic Mr. Fox
The Road
Damn some slow depressing movies on that list, are you ok?

I do definitely have a thing for slow burs and character driven stories, and I do like my humor dark ("In Bruges"). I'm less of a stickler for plot, though of course I think a great film can kind of check any variety of boxes and not have to be one thing. I think only a few of those are really depressing , though. Even something like "Manchester by the Sea" has a lot of humor in it.

I just saw this movie for the first time last week. I liked it, but I thought the tone was a little odd. Like sometimes it's very self aware of the silliness of creating a neo-noir story set in high-school, but other times it's deadly serious. And I like both of those halves of the movie, but found the sudden flips between the two kind of off-putting, if that makes sense.

Yeah Ive seen all but 3 of those (bolded), good quality movies but I wanted to slit my wrists after the Road... I guess I have to get a little adrenaline going ... TAOJJBYCRF was so slow I fell asleep 3x before finishing it....like my acronym?
Drive and No Country For Old Men almost make my list...

"The Road" is the most straight up depressing movie on my list, for sure. But I think, even given how grim it is, it's kind of beautiful as a story about a father trying to prepare and protect his son from the outside world. Jesse James seriously is all about the payoff, and I'm not just saying that because you fell asleep. I'm not sure if anyone else here has seen it, but the final 30 minutes or so are one of my favorite endings ever.

Re: 2017 TV/Movie/Book Thread with Spoilers
SW IV
Dead poets society
Braveheart
Terminator 2
Dark Knight
Matrix
Mulholland drive
Shawshank redemption
Fight club
Le Diner de cons
I definitely forget many films.
Some of the following could have easily made the list another day with different mood.
Alien, Good Will hunting, The broken circle breakdown, Willow, 2046, American beauty, Citizen Cane, Godfather, Training day, Leon, American history, Requiem for a dream, Seven, Platoon, Million dollar baby, Heat. Oh "o μπακαλόγατος" too.
I should probably choose one of these instead of Le Diner de cons, but I wanted to have a comedy in my list.

The Punisher trailer looks dope. Hopefully the series can back it up.
