I won't be able to play until next week, but yup, I'll be in the same boat.

I'm installing Smash right now, can't wait. I haven't played it since N64, maybe a tiny bit of Gamecube.

Buy my kids a Switch for Christmas. They are 8, 6, and 3.5. Any suggestions?

Every once in a while I get a reminder of how long I've been around this site.

This is super one of those times.

Don't worry. I also have an 8 month old, but didn't include for obvious reasons.

We’re so helpful...

Honestly, Odyssey might even be a little old for the 8 year old. By that, I mean a little too difficult. Coming up with games for kids is probably out of my element. Maybe the Kirby game?

Mario Kart 8 is probably easy for most kids to learn.

You want to feel old? You want to feel like you've been here a long time?

You recommended Fat Princess as a game, and I thought "sounds groovy" and got it. My little boy and I got many, many hours of fun from it (as he did with his little friends, too)- thank you so much for bothering to say "YOU GUYS! YOU GUYS!", the fun we got from it entirely originated from this board.

My little boy will be able to legally buy beer next year.

Get a screen protecter, get a screen protecter, get a screen protecter.

Get an extra controller, get an extra controller, get an extra controller.

I strongly considered a switch for my family. Kids are 9,5,3 but between the Ipads and PS4 I didn't care to spend the $ on another console out of fear that it may not be used for its worth. There is certainly some games that I'd love to play on the switch myself but I cant justify the $5-600 to get setup with system protectors a couple games and added controllers. Fortnite runs wild in my house between the 2 boys, as do several sports titles. They are happy with their ps4, but the switch just looks like great fun for small groups of even just 2-3.

My plan is to keep the console and screen thing up high so my 3 year old can't break it and my 8 year old can't carry it around all the time. I know that this kind of defeats the purpose of the "switch" capabilities, but whatever. I would prefer they get a PlayStation but they really want Mario Kart (which honestly, is the only video game I've played in 23 years [N64 dorm floor champion]) and their friends have Switch so here we are.

It stinks that you can't hook up more than 2 controllers to a single console, but maybe that's industry standard now?

The switch has tons of 4 player games, especially indie ones, that you can play 4 player locally. Astro Bears Party is a super simple party game that costs like $1 for 4 people that I break out from time to time.

LOL it's funny because I can remember RS (DB then?) ranting about Fat Princess back in the day.

I lurked this site for over 3 years prior to joining too, crazy.

I'll post my friend code later, looking forward to playing, and hopefully should be a lag-free experience.

Not that GOTY awards mean too much to me, but I was quite glad to see God of War beat RDR2 last night (and the fact that RDR2 won best soundtrack over Celeste is a crime against humanity). Compared to RDR2, God of War was so much more polished to a startling degree. Mechanics near flawless, combat was innovative, great story, tons of very organic side-quest stuff but not HUD-hunting and not enough where you feel like you'll never get close to 100%. Definitely one of the best games I've played in the past few years.

I got back into RDR2 a little more the past few nights now that I finished the Spyro remasters and while I was kind of having more fun because I was going into it knowing I'd probably only finish one mission in a 2-hour span, there were still some things that absolutely infuriated me control wise. But taking it slower has definitely helped me enjoy it more.

I actually think Fat Princess was the start of the first ever Gaming thread on here. That game would totally own on the Switch today.
